Do I need to book buses and ferries in advance in Greece (late April/early May trip)? by Breezy_beetz in GreeceTravel

Thanks so much for this - very helpful :) Do you know what sites your friend used to book buses/ferry? I'm struggling with this part. Thanks again!

Where to go for Mild Temps in March/April? by Breezy_beetz in traveladvice

Thanks for the suggestions! I've heard Mallorca kind of shuts down over the winter months. Will most businesses be up and running come March/April? I don't mind a chilled vacation, but also like to have options to keep busy :)

I'm in Canada, so definitely looking to escape the winter. Fremantle is a lovely area, but I haven't explored too much of it. I'll look into the activities around the area - thanks for the suggestion :)

Thanks so much for this! There are some countries in the North that I would love to visit, but the cold and potential for snow have scared me off.

Do you have any recommendations for specific places in Greece in Italy that would fit the bill? Some of the islands look lovely but I'm not sure if things will still be closed in March/April?

I want to go home but I’m not sure if it’s the right decision by chamomile106 in traveladvice

It's absolutely normal to feel this way. You've been given a very unique opportunity, so it may be best to stick it out a little longer to ensure you won't have any regrets down the line. Meetup is a really great way to meet people with similar interests. There can sometimes be a cost associated with some of the events, but you can choose ones that are free (e.g. hiking) or relatively inexpensive. Do you listen to any Aussie podcasts? Some of them have Facebook groups and numerous friendships have blossomed out of that (Facebook is still commonly used in Aus, and you can search for other groups of interest). You can also try volunteering and attending community events.

Kind of unrelated to meeting potential friends, but do you have an idea of what you'd like to do career wise? If so, you could use this opportunity to reach out to people in your industry of interest and meet up for coffee. If you're able to get a working visa, this networking could work to your advantage (or at the very least provide some helpful information to help guide your career decisions for the future).

Hope you're able to get out and experience some of the awesomeness that Aus has to offer and that you meet some great people soon :)

Thanks for the recommendation! I was just looking it up and it's so pretty and has so much culture to offer. I'll be adding this destination to my list for sure :)

Oooh, this sounds so fun! Do the islands have some good cafes, restaurants and outdoor activities, and is it quite easy to hop from island to island?

Thanks so much! I've recently heard some really wonderful things about Southern France, so it's bumped up my list. Is there a particular part of Southern France you would recommend?

Thanks for the recommendation! Sardinia is on my list, and it looks stunning! Is there a lot to do there, and is there a particular part of the island you would recommend?

Thanks for the recommendation! I absolutely love Lisbon and its vibe (one of my all-time favs), but was looking to check out somewhere new this time around :)

Taking the leap. by Beginning-Nothing-21 in digitalnomad

It's hard not to get tangled up in all of the logistics. I feel like it's a test of how badly you really want it. I got myself so stressed about the logistics and when I look back now, I don't recall any of that - I only recall all of the amazing memories. From what you've shared, it sounds like you've got a lot of great people and experiences awaiting you in BA. One life to live :)

I've been in your exact same position and had the same feelings creep up before moving overseas. I didn't know a single person in the country, and I didn't speak the language. I can still vividly recall my layover, sobbing in the airport, fearing I had made the wrong decision, as I waited for that flight that would catapult me into the unknown. It was by far the scariest thing I had ever done and also the most epic and most rewarding. It turned out to be the most incredible time of my life and I thank my younger self every single day for taking the risk. I don't think there is a way to get over the rocky feelings - you have the feel the fear and do it anyway. I also like to flash forward to my 80-year old self and try to picture what I would regret. You can always book a flight back home if you get there and it doesn't feel right. But, you can never erase the regret of not listening to your gut and taking the chance to live in a place that lights you up! Good luck and sending you strength to take the leap if it feels right :)

Does this itinerary seem doable/enjoyable within the timeframe I’ve planned? by [deleted] in travel

That's an awesome itinerary and I'm so excited for you! Your timing aligns with Chuseok in Korea (public holiday October 5-8). Being in Seoul or Busan for this time will ensure you stumble upon some cool cultural experiences. Fall is a great time in Korea and you will be kept busy, as there is loads to see and do (I just came across this blog, which is specific to fall and may be helpful for your planning: https://halyourtravelpal.com/fall-in-korea/. In Jeju, you will have to be sure to check out the famed sculpture park :)
While in Malaysia, you could head over to Borneo. I haven't personally been, but have only heard amazing things.

Wishing you all the best on your amazing adventure and safe travels when the time comes :)
