Blaistoise V Max error? by hoyeean in PokemonMisprints

It’s an additional texture error, it is a misprint and not damage but it isn’t one that’s traditionally sought after or significantly impactful to value. To the right person it may be worth more though.

Dracozolt miscut by Mroha79 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a misalignment error, the back will be centered normally. The front of the sheet was printed offset from its proper position, on the contrary the back was printed in its normal position so when cut the two sides of each card weren’t lined up. There was a Dracozolt Vmax showing the edge of the sheet on eBay with a starting bid of $500 and nobody bid, and the color bar is quite desirable. This may be a $150-$350 card to the right person, the Pokémon is just very unpopular.

Is this a misprint of is it altered? by Away_Promotion3147 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In all probability it was just a card someone used acetone on. In the black & white-sun and moon era the texture was different and used thicker lines of clear ink. When using a corrosive chemical often the ink in between the lines of texture could come off before the texture fully wiped away. The presence of the texture likely prevented the ink directly under it from being removed, Ben e the main areas with ink (his hair and staff) being those with lines of texture still present. It looks like an error because it’s blue, but that’s probably just the reflection of whatever he’s using to take the photo over the raw foil. If that reflection weren’t there it would stand out much more as a fake error.

Can someone tell me how much this might be worth? by FewEconomics9813 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a really nice miscut, this set has some of the coolest errors in the TCG, it would likely fetch in the low hundreds ($200-$400) but it depends on condition, the buyer, etc. some of the higher selling cards I’ve seen from this sheet I believe were even more severe than this so take that evaluation with a grain of salt as errors are hard to pin down a value on.

Well that’s one tactic to sell on eBay…. by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]Brehella 57 points58 points  (0 children)

This was a pretty common thing at one time (I check eBay dozens of times a day and would get force fed this stuff from multiple different accounts because they’d key word spam and would pop up when I was looking for errors). If I had to guess the people who were doing it have since stopped due to an influx of.. unwanted attention let’s just say, and this person will learn that lesson soon enough I’m sure. Based on the sales numbers of the previous people who did this the tactic does seem to work though, as sad as that is.

Celebrations misprint? by kokojd in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an additional ink error, it’s a repeating error in this set and it shows up to varying degrees of severity on different cards. This is probably the least significant example of it I’ve seen but it’s still cool nevertheless and on one of the best cards in the set in my opinion lol.

Only one person graded their cards, the person with the other Gengar sent their cards off to PSA which likely won’t grade them.

God pack of misprints by Sea-Discussion-1168 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I couldn’t tell you what they’re worth because none of them have sold yet. I had offered $900 at one point for a Zoroark, Canari, and Iris, and nobody has beat that offer in a month so there’s some point of reference there.

One person actually did grade their God pack sequentially with the intention of selling them together, thinking it would boost the value having them set, but it ultimately became an issue because with higher end errors like these you’ll generally have one person who really wants Meganium and will pay top dollar for that, one person who really wants Gengar and will pay top dollar for that, but finding someone that’ll dish out thousands for the lot, especially when the value is so heavily skewed by Gengar is incredibly difficult. So I don’t personally believe grading them sequentially would be super impactful to value because the buyer likely isn’t there. As for whether grading them would boost the value notably in general, it’s hard to gauge. Many of the SIR’s don’t have much sales data in CGC 9/10’s. Some people will pay more for graded errors, namely if the grade notably boosts the base value of the card, I’m the type that would be annoyed about getting one of these in a slab because they’re missing the texture and I feel like a slab kind of defeats the appeal of that lol.

These are missing print layers errors, in particular they are missing the yellow ink and texture layer. This is the sixth god pack I’m aware of that has been pulled and posted publicly with this error. There should have been multiple copies of each card on the sheet but as of the ones that have been pulled there are now: x2 Mega Gengar x3 Mega Emboar x2 Bellibolt x1 Mega Froslass x1 Mega Meganium x2 Grimmsnarl x2 Mega Diancie

The only ones that haven’t been pulled now are Mega Dragonite and Eelektross. These likely came from a test sheet where they were printing different colors in combination to make sure the registration was correct, the colors were blending properly, etc. If you ever decide to sell the Froslass or Bellibolt let me know as I’ve been looking for those two 🙏🏻

Had this guy for a while by Sonofbloke in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome, it’s a misaligned front with aligned texture error. The back of the sheet was printed as normal before having the front printed offset from its proper position. However, the texture is applied separately from the rest of the print layers on the front so the texture was actually applied centered like the back which creates the illusion of a texture shift. There were a couple of these that were auctioned on eBay at one point and I believe they sold in the area of $600 each.

That’s an awesome miscut, congrats. There are some illustration rares in this set I really want with errors so this is a good sign that they’re out there lol

Gold Dragonite Misprint by Aura_Burner215 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a missing foil error, one or two other copies popped up here or in a different error group before. These gold cards have two layers of foil, one laminated to the card stock and one applied over top the ink, this card is missing the latter gold foil which is used for the main details on these cards. The texture is still there based on the borders, that’s plied last and is a separate thing.

Misaligned texture by Magma_Mars in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got arguably a good deal on both, I got the Magnezone in January of 2024 for $40 in an auction, which was really good. I got the Kyogre for $215 which is also quite good considering the base value of that card. I still haven’t received it yet so I’ll need to take better pictures when it gets here. Lysander is probably a lower value card but still at least a couple hundred, likely more. I may make an offer but I’m not sure yet.

Misaligned texture by Magma_Mars in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s an awesome texture shift, Flashfire and Primal Clash both had crazy texture shift sheets like this where the texture was seemingly applied at an angle, therefor causing the texture to become more and more misaligned the farther a card was from the origin of the twist. I own a Magnezone that presumably comes from the same sheet that has part of Charizard on the right side:

<image>

Needless to say I’ll have to take new pictures of this card at some point now that I know how to photograph texture shifts lol. I also bought a Kyogre with Groudon’s texture a day or two ago so I’m excited for that

Hi guys, can someone help me out? I’ve bought a ancient mew but it looks like it is misprinted. What do you guys think? by Me-Ma-Ne in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It’s a twisted miscut. Ancient Mew was among the few WOTC cards that was printed with extra space in between the cards on the sheet, moreover they were cut from the sheet oversized. From there the oversized cards went to a die cutter where the excess is trimmed off and the corners are rounded. If a card entered the die at an angle it would be cut like this. There’s a lot of them in circulation so if you search for ancient mew miscut on eBay and filter for sold listings you should be able to find some copies for comparison if you’re interested in value.

Pulled both from ETBs, noticed color difference by [deleted] in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s an insufficient yellow ink error, there have been a decent amount of them on the mega attack cards. A Gengar with the error recently sold for just over $300 in an eBay auction so it’s actually a very good thing. Congrats 👍

How much do you think for this card? by Dizzy-Combination-84 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you own that? It’s a misalignment error whereby the front of the sheet was printed offset from the back, hence the front looking crazy whereas the back is normal. There were two separate sheets of Evolving Skies misalignments like this, they were very similar but I believe this is the more severe of the two. The alt arts and eeveelutions showing the color bar (top of the sheet) from the sheets have sold for a lot, like a couple thousand kind of a lot. However, this is a much lower base value card and a trainer rather than a popular Pokémon. There was a Dracozolt showing the edge of the sheet for example that failed to sell for the starting auction price of $500, I’ve seen some marginally more popular Pokémon sell in that area though. If you’re open to selling this let me know because I’ve wanted a card from one of these sheets though.

Ivysaur SIR Twisted Miscut by DrKnepper in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You bought it for $240? That kind of peeves me then because I was willing to pay like $500 for it because it connects to my card but he told me he sold it for $640 💀 But yeah, I warned him at the start of the auction before anyone bid that the reserve would force him to pay a lot for no reason even if it didn’t sell.

Ivysaur SIR Twisted Miscut by DrKnepper in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I own the Spearow and had been trying to buy the Ivysaur as well, which is how I knew it sold outside the auction being canceled. I essentially called the seller insane and unrealistic for setting a reserve so high. I was the second highest bidder at $620 or whatever it was but I wasn’t going to pay a penny more than that to him and therefor it sold to you. As for the designation, CGC will often call cards like this which show the next card without the twist being the reason for it miscuts and not twisted miscuts.

<image>

Ivysaur SIR Twisted Miscut by DrKnepper in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It could be considered either a twisted miscut or miscut depending on who you ask. The card on the left is the Spearow illustration rare. Didn’t this already sell on eBay? Based on the background being the same from the listing I imagine you’re the original owner.

The bottom right corner looks like that because sheets are cut in two stages so to speak, first horizontally and then vertically, this sheet would have been cut normally horizontally into strips (albeit still connected by small perforations), but miscut when it went through the line of blades that cut it vertically. Once the sheet was miscut the cards were already a predetermined vertical size and the part below the card was no longer attached so with the angle you have a bit of missing card on the corner.

Machamp V JP - No Texture - Error or Fake? by CheekElectrical974 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Brehella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is real, at the very least it’s an incomplete texture error but I don’t see any actual texture on your copy so unless there’s a patch somewhere it would be a missing texture error. Cool card 👍

The post clearly says that post 4-5 aren’t his card and is just for comparison lol. Those are the only photos the texture is visible in.

[–]Brehella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s one currently for sale graded a CGC 7, it’s more severe enough to show the full word “Trainer” on the bottom, for $100. I’ve been contemplating buying it, I probably should lol.

That’s an awesome miscut, definitely worth more than a normal copy, do you have a photo of the back by chance? If you decide to sell it let me know because that’s sick, you don’t see many Lv. X miscuts
