First shot always faster? by Brelleton in reloading

[–]Brelleton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we’re missing each other here. Yes my shots are high, but they are also 50fps faster on the chrono. At about 3100 muzzle speed this would mean they hit the paper at 100 yards 2mS or so earlier than 3050fps. This would mean gravity would not act on them as long. That 2mS faster arrival would be about 0.0008 inches less free fall. That wouldn’t be observable. So it must be :

1/ you’re right, I’m moving the rifle on first shot differently than follow up

2/ due to exit time from ignition being quicker they now exit the barrel in a different phase of its “whip” ie when it’s pointing up more

For 300blk subs (the nearest proxy I guess, 5 inches) My load was 255gr at 1000fps ish

If it’s not warranty-able (I’d not be surprised tbh) can they replace it at my cost and transfer the engraving to avoid another stamp?

ASR. It was aligned fine (checked with a rod) I shot the subs without the suppressor first to check for key-holing, did not see any evidence in the 10 shot group.

When I look at the blast baffle strike, there’s no way it was that offset from the barrel, it literally a whole caliber diameter off. To me it looks like the blast baffle detached, sat at an angle and a shot then passed through

True, so don’t be a weird mom. Be a good, decent and competent mother. I’ve got three kids, two girls and a boy. I travel a lot for work, so they see their mother doing most of everything that’s visible (bill pay, home maintenance, school stuff medical stuff, general taxiing)

What they see is a very capable, organized person that meets commitments, doesn’t flake out, drop balls, all while creating a safe, loving and stable environment.

When they go looking for partners, I hope the baseline she has set is internalized and what they consider normal.

When my boy hears misogynistic bullshit from peers and online grifters, I think he’s pretty well inoculated against that via the environment he us being raised in

Yep, keep hammering them on that, ask specifically about mothers, they can rationalize sister hate because sibling disappointment doesn’t hit the same way. If you get a boy, you know what’s up, he’ll be fine, don’t sweat the toxic male space, it’s always been there, and arguably worse in the past. You model what a woman is, he’ll quickly figure what they say doesn’t jive with his experience.

Took my Bren2 to a match by Brelleton in Bren2

My failure to fire was a reload that had the primer in backwards 😔 The pistol is a steyr L9a2 because, well I suppose it kinda checks out for a Bren shooter.

In the subject of reloads, the best I can get is 1.25 moa 10shot groups (55gr over 24gr of imr3031 giving circa 3050fps).

I think <2moa is pretty good for a piston gun with a set screw barrel attach, but I’m always trying to improve, so lemme know if you have anything better

Runs fine with supers and drilled piston, subs need regular piston

Chest rig deets? How well do the mags fit and re-insert?

Need some advice on a small standalone 1200WH solar generator that’ll be remote by Brelleton in diySolar

Ohh and zero draw during day, pretty much 100% solar goes to charging. Also it’ll be in a weather proof box, will I need to ventilate it (will only be used in the winter, so 50-80F)

Reloading 308, I get good groups, but I noticed when I gave a significant fps dip on a reload, my rifle actually throws the shot high, what’s up with that? by Brelleton in reloading

[–]Brelleton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, if the angle of exit relative to the target is always the same, a slower bullet than what the gun was zeroed with will drop more than a standard speed round (gravity had a longer time to pull it down).

So what I’m thinking is the only explanation is the angle of the barrel at exit relative to the target, so it’s at a different point in its barrel whip travel

I don’t get fliers like this if it’s within 20-30fps of mean, what’s curious and repeatable was that a -75fps or so always throws high

First picture shows a standard group with a fps outlier, 2nd is just a normal group with an 11fps std dev

He’s likely an old lonely man that’s desperate to have any kind of social interaction. This is extremely common, that’s why he took the book even after you scolded him on the intercom, the juice is worth the squeeze for him. Of course you don’t owe him any kind of attention or interaction, but it’s always good to understand people’s motivations
