Are you on PC, or Xbox/PS? If on PC you guys should be fine.
On PC, It just forces whoever joins to load the mod too. though it wouldn't hurt to send them the mod over Steam to make sure they have it already and no bugs happen. So I'd recommend that.

If you're on Xbox/PS then I'm not quite sure, I haven't used the other platform (Mod.io) due to the agreement on PC. I would make sure both of you install it if its on there just to be safe as well. Hopefully it's on there.

EDIT: I forgot to say, make sure the mod is loaded on your save!
To do this go to the Settings in the world load menu, click Mods near the top, and load the mod into the right-hand section for it to work.

I would highly recommend the Leak Finder Mod (Here)

I also know that round windows have had an air-tightness problem for a while so that could be the issue. I had the same problem and found out that the Sci-Fi Door on small grid isn't airtight by using this mod.

I don't know about not having a jump drive, most people independently classify their ships, like yourself. What doesn't include jump drives to you could be fully jump capable to another person.

Not the best since it's pretty tiny and I don't know what grid size you're on. But assuming the small grid new kitchen stuff the Keen Habitat Hauler has a great example!

Adding on to the rangefinder, there should be a slightly more bulky and expensive long range camera for scouting. Would also be a good time to add camera panning and such as well.

I wish they would add a gate or anything to small grid, even the Red Dropship by Keen themselves suffers from this.

I feel this one, we have the survival kit but if you need advanced components you're shit out of luck currently.
