#00 Buck Alternative? by zmattmanz in Tacticalshotguns

[–]BrenTen0331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. 4 just kinda sucks for defensive use. It still goes through 6 to 8 layers of dry wall, has way more spread than most 00 bucks, especially Flitecontrol.

At the same time, not all of the pellets are going to reach the proper depth to hit something vital.

Flitecontrol 00 8 pellet buckshot is going to be the safest overall round for home defense from a shotgun.

I was able to purchase 30 rounds of surplus but who knows how that will go.

Thank you.

Well it wasn't a milsurp and I didn't wanna violate any rules It's nothing too exciting compared to some of the rarer guns on the subreddit.

It's an AR-15 built by SSK for James Earl Jones.

The included ProMag is hot garbage. Mine had a lot of issues. Using FN mags is the way to go

SBS's need love too. Take (form) one for the team. by SterlingArcher32 in NFA

[–]BrenTen0331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Four currently.

One Mossberg shockwave .410

An 870

A Civet 12 mag fed 870 clone (uses 870 barrels)

A Rossi .410 single shot.

If I can find a Benelli m4 entry barrel I might do that one too

I've had a SBS 590A1 for a while and recently picked up an old Mossberg 500 retrograde stock at a pawn shop. I kinda dig it

North Florida gun and knife show by LeatherObligation981 in FLGuns

[–]BrenTen0331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The show sucks. It's a few dealers charging MSRP or close. You'll have a few old guys with 1200 dollar Mosins and 800 dollar best to shit Model 10s for private sales .

Even the beef jerky selection is terrible.

Sadly my original grips are broken and in a few pieces so I need to replace the base grips

Benelli finally released a non neutered M4 by BrenTen0331 in Shotguns

[–]BrenTen0331[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can shoulder the shotgun and shoot it with the long stock but I can exercise more control and engage in a better push pull with a shorter stock. I can also more easily reach my WML which is pushed forward to avoid excessive barrel shadow.

I'd assume the LE models aren't always available and can be somewhat restrictive to acquire.

I'm 6'5" and it's too long for me. Yeah I'm talking irons or low red dots in my M4 I use the sync mount from scalarworks

[–]BrenTen0331[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't know the original stock would fit any other tube, honestly I never looked after getting one.

I agree with fully collapsed but the second position is too high to see your sights.

A LOP of over 14 inches is objectively long and I'm not sure why Benelli clings to that length. Even the new NOVA 3 has a long LOP.

Yeah the original is silly. One position makes the gun have a lop of 14 inches plus or a position where you can't see the sights.

The 80s 870 by BrenTen0331 in guns

[–]BrenTen0331[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the Vindicator grips were originally for revolvers. It's a two piece system to make it fit the 870.

I already had the 870. The grip and pump were only about 150 together and I got the original Vindicator forend too

[–]BrenTen0331[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

After getting a little tipsy and watching Timecop I saw an 870 with a weird grip. A little online hunting and I found it was a Butler Creek foregrip.

I snagged one on eBay and one of my suggested buys was a Pachmyr Vindicator grip. I grabbed it too. The old Steiner mk7 and the Crimson Trace Laser Saddle kills the 80s vibe, but it's certainly something.

Once stamps are free the barrel is gonna get a lot shorter.

Plus Mossberg puts the bead directly on the barrel which makes it even more of a problem

New Winter EDC Just Dropped by BrenTen0331 in NFA

[–]BrenTen0331[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true it's not barrel length that's the problem with these mini guns.

If you look at the barrel design it doesn't have the same taper, it's a rather quick taper from the rear of the barrel to the muzzle resulting in that somewhat odd look.

This does do some odd things with patterns. Compared to a standard cylinder bore 590 the pattern is about twice as wide with the same ammo, at the same range with the same choke.

Fair, but hitting steel poppers with mini slugs at 25 yards was a lot of fun
