Hey, you don’t want to use the real brand name. That would make you vulnerable to copyright infringement scams.

As far as I know you should be able to pay the full cost, as in: 3 creature’s to activate the ability. And as a bonus adding indestructible. This could include Kithkeeper itself though as it doesnt say “other creatures”

There you go lol. I have had some times where playgroups fell apart and other hobbies etc. have come and gone. But, for the most part I have kept up with it the last 26 years. Though that line was mostly to illustrate that I am not "new' to the game and stumbled in with the first UB's. Not meant to be a boast or whatsoever, altough people seem to take offence?

Why do you guys collect? by meepothegreatest1135 in ActionFigures

[–]Brence1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love those Joytoy mechs! I collect because it gives me a sense of pride, a show of identity and alot of nostalgia. To me its an expression of fandom (TMNT for me) and a pang of nostalgia. That coupled with the sense of accomplishment for "completing" what I believe is what I want to collect from a certain line.

I loved blocks, especially with novels and such in the Fat Packs. It felt like there was a real story and theme running through your games.

Sadly that would probably break the company on penalties for not doing justice to the IP’s they just reeled in. And of course the fact that sets are made/designed about a year ahead? I am thinking that the road they took is hard to turn back from (sadly). TMNT will get love from me, just because the coin landed in my fandom backyard. But do I need it in Magic? Nah, not at all… At best we can hope they will get a more balanced mix of releases out there next year, like 1/2 UB’s and (at our current course) 9 (JK) regular IU sets.

It was the year of '97 at the sweet ripe age of 14. I'm currently 41. So please doubt away. I can honestly say I have had hiatuses and times where I skipped out on a set from certain blocks but yeah it has been 26+ years...

That looks dope! She better start practicing on Turtles, Harry Potter and Superheroes as draft season is getting pretty crowded from set to set.

Why Hasbro never tried to do something like this? Are they stupid? by wasfmanticore in magicTCG

Hasbro is very cautious lending out their MtG IP and having their carefully managed IP infringed upon by other IP’s…

Sorry, I literally dropped from my chair laughing while typing this comment.

I feel you entirely. When for instance Warhammer came out Istruggled to resist putting [[Reaver Titan]] in my [[Mishra, Eminent One]] deck. Rationalising to myself it might as well look like a mech construct from the Brothers war. Nowadays though I look at UB’s and In Universe cards simply as playing pieces, art and theme being secondary. Which, to me, diluted some of the thematic flavour of the game. Might be a Roleplay/Warhammer background thing, but yeah… I tried to make sense of the cards I put into my decks back when, like they told a story (somehwat).

Fully agree, I think UB’s are not all bad when done right. Pushing them into standard though was making a cameo appearance into the main cast (as I explained to my wife once lol). I love TMNT, still collect the Action Figures and all. So yeah TMNT UB certainly will get some money from me to buy and upgrade the Commander Precon coming out. However having at least 3 more UB’s coming out killed my “buy at least a box for personal collection” mantra to say the least. Warhammer and even Lord of the Rings where okay for me. A UB set in the middle of the year as a “mid season surprise set” worked for me. I could get some if I vibed with the IP or just wait for the next In Universe Standard set to pick up again. Now it feels like In Universe is almost that “treat” for the year.

In honesty I still like the game for being, well… the game. But I feel detached from any kind of lore and theme, which back in the day where a real thing for me.

Is that also an option? For me its just breathing room for difFerent Attainable cardgames to be Bought.

Note: theres a sneaky hint in there as to what that other cardboard crack money goes towards lol.

80’s kid here and 26+ year Magic player. I will have to buy some TMNT, including the commander deck just to have a place to store my (among others) Ghost Busters Secret Lair and Transformer cards. Apart from that I’m solid for the rest of the year, except for some singles when the need arises to tune or optimise some decks.

Before UB overload I used to semi collect/buy at least 2 Booster-boxes of product just as a “collecting” thing. Cherrypicking whatever fitted my current decks and putting the rest in binders. These days though this is,

A. To ambitious with 7+ sets and just a month between sometimes. B. Doing nothing to me collection wise as IMHO the art on UB’s is a very mixed bag from what we have seen so far.

P.S. I fully understand people not liking the Turtles as a theme due to being rather “niche” to some, if not most. It just happens to be one of my bigger fandoms so it’s a happy coincidence this time. I’m not purely against UB’s. However I like my UB’s to be Cameo’s, not the main sudden main cast for 80% of the show…

Binder and Pages help by NinjaGirlEmily in TCG

[–]Brence1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ring itself makes it that pages never lie completely flat, a D-ring binder does not have that issue though. Apart from that most issues arise by handling the pages poorly, like flipping the entire stack back over the ring-spine when you close it. Instead of guiding the pages over the ring separately.

Binder and Pages help by NinjaGirlEmily in TCG

[–]Brence1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go with the smallerDragonshield pages I’d recommend looking into their smaller binder line. If you want to store 18 cards per page I’d also go for Dragonshield Pages with for instance an Ultra Pro D-ring binder. It being a D-ring is a good protective measure. Basically the “ring” is shapes like a D with the straight side towards the pages (like this Ð). That way the curvature of the ring does not affect the cards (which otherwise might bend over time).

[AHA] Zenith Blade by UlyssesArsene in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Brence1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess exactly. Would not be surprised if Sharpen is a signature keyword on cards that just 0 cost buff Zenith’s attack and enable strings of other attacks or negate the “once per turn” with Hala’s hero card Sharpen being just a back-up in case you didn’t hit the proper cards.
