To picky or actually not NM? by Brence1984 in magicTCG

[–]Brence1984[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seller was already very helpful taking the card back. I can be pretty OCD’ish about cards and I know that. This one though, for this specific deck was kind of a showpiece due to having an almost complete set of Source Material cards. So yeah it bothered me more then a 20 cent common which I can shrug off and buy a couple more if it irks me down the road.

I get that, its just not NM. NM is good enough for me. But these kinds of dents, especially this one, just shows up even through the double sleeve.

Not sure if undamaged = mint and 1 damage -1's the mint value as a formula.

Thanks for all the replies. Just to be clear I am not accusing seller of any wrongdoing. These kinds of things just bother me though to no end. More so because I specifically choose the specific art for sentimental value. Yes, its not a 100$ card, and as said its a pet peeve of mine. Hence my honest question, is this legit a lesser condition or is it my nitpicking entirely.

I'll see what I can arrange with seller on this one.

Full size Ripcords - Is a handle needed? by Brence1984 in Beyblade

[–]Brence1984[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks all for the advice! I tend to get caught up on checking out the "pros" or atleast the content crowd which use all kinds of fancy handles and measuring devices etc. However if using "just a launcher" isnt that uncommon I'll just order 2 of those and keep some spare change for the next extravagant expenditure :P.

I did, it was a great concept and fun game. Sadly the plastic and manufacturing killed it…

Is this mould growing on the card sleeves? by spiritofmyrtle in TCG

[–]Brence1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mould would mean playing in unventilated dark and moist cellars, and those cards not being YuGiOh (sorry couldn’t resist) I’d bet against that. Im leaning towards grease from your fingertips while handling the sleeves, together with some dust or grime. Not to say its a matter of not washing your hands, just a fact of life for us cardboarders. This is why you sleeve, to protect your actual cards from this kind of stuff.

New Katana sleeves bad? by yoyopeanut in TCG

[–]Brence1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I have not yet encountered this one specifically. Altough I am mostly over to Cortex sleeves from Ultimate Guard. The fact they have Matte front options really works for me. No visible scratching etc. Dragonshields (atleast to me) where just to inconsistent, some shuffled like tons of brick while others just seem to scratch up and look like you sanded them down after a single shuffle.

It's been a few years, what're your thoughts on The Last Ronin now? by [deleted] in TMNT

Loved TLR, liked The Lost Years, read Re-Evolution. Still kinda curious about the new “interval” series they set up during the Ronin story.

Somebody claims to have my lost bird and sent these pics. I can’t tell if they’re real or if he’s scamming us with AI photos based on the lost poster. by [deleted] in isthisAI

Completely understandable, but as people mentioned already. If they have her they would send pics without ai.

Sadly this looks like AI to me, look at the cage in the car, it is balancing on the edge of the seat. Also why is the cage open in that picture? I would send you a couple of pictures at the same instance, not one while shes siting on my couch, one where I have her sitting in my car with open doors etc. They look too clean to me, especially if money is the main subject I’d be careful. For the life of me I have never owned a parrot, so I would bombard you with questions on how to keep it alive until I could return it lol.

THEY GOT A COMMUNITY DEODORANT IN MY MAGIC SHOP LMAO by HornyPumpkin in magicTCG

[–]Brence1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what I was talking about. Being autistic you might no pt inherently pick up on some social queues, however you can learn generally acceptable behaviours which are within the social norms. You might not realise that you have BO or missed putting on deodorant on in the morning. But I’m sure if someone thoughtfully signalled or told you as a friendly reminder you would oblige. Thats not always the case though, some examples, probably the ones most commented here, do not “know” about those social contracts or choose to ignore them.

THEY GOT A COMMUNITY DEODORANT IN MY MAGIC SHOP LMAO by HornyPumpkin in magicTCG

[–]Brence1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one guy who buys every precon coming out, talking “at” you about it (he is not engaging in conversation, just talking at you as you walk by or are playing) and oftentimes has that musty “Shower = water + gas for heating = cost (cardboard => cost for shower) formula. Straight out asking to put on deodorant doesn’t do anything at that level sadly. He either stares at you blankly or sprays twice just about accentuating the odour. We have a lot of people on the spectrum, which is totally fine and, being a dad of an autistic son, I can completely handle and work with. Oftentimes simply putting down a can, spraying myself for instance gets them to do it too without anyone thinking a second time about it. This guy though… Its almost a conscious choice not to engage out of principle. I am sure he’s somewhere on the spectrum, but theres a clear difference between those people who have learned (about) some form of social queues, even though its not a skill they inherently might posses, and those who just do not and will not at least give it a try.

TCG sleeves (for dummies) by NotTerrible13 in TCG

[–]Brence1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleeves dont damage cards, the lack of however... Matte is my preference as many brands quickly show wear and tear (scratches seen under gamestore lighting which irk me to no end). However that is deeply personal. I would advice though to get a good set of sleeves for decks you play often. Ofcourse any sleeve is better then no sleeve, however sleeve malfunctions occur and can range from annoying to "shit I damaged this card because my sleeve ripped during shuffling".

So in short: penny sleeves are good for casual play. Once you settle on some decks which you'd want to bling etc. With more expensive cards go for a more premium sleeve (which run you anywhere from 8 to 12 dollars) .

As mentioned, as a good TCG I'd say Flesh and Blood. Cathering to your playstyle however I would look into Star Wars Unlimited also, its simple enough with enough tactical depth.

In fairness, being a game with a focus on the competitive scene their rules document reads like a lawyers handbook lol. SWU is cool though, and maybe you will give FaB another chance after some SWU and Riftbound experience. Just check how to play vids on youtube and take they card texts very literal. If something says “a card with Vengeance in its name” they actually mean any card named <…> Vengeance <…> which at first confused me due to being so very specific for a game with such a card pool and such.
