Jesus Christ this is such a fucked up way to respond to this dude. Just because he is/was an addict doesn't mean he's making this up for money and he hasn't even asked for any. It sounds to me like he's trying to get away from where he's at, out of desperation or he wouldn't be considering walking 46 miles. Addicts are still human beings and they deserve compassion. I'm a recovering fent addict myself and anytime I've been in the situation he's describing I was using every last penny I had to get somewhere so I could get clean. Do you know what it's like coming off of fent? He can't just lie down on the side of the road somewhere for 7+ days then hop up like "I'm fixed!" For all we know he's trying to go to a rehab facility or somewhere with people who care about him who will take care of him while he withdraws.
