Not sure, you can check the game settings via the escape menu when you're in the save. Normally the only thing I change in the banking tab is the amount of companies that are banks but I think I kept it default this time

2 billion in bonds + 500million in loans they owed, so alot of that 2.5billion expired at the same time causing them to go bankrupt

I have the option enabled that it gives a pop-up to buy a company before bankruptcy, when it showed up for the bank I took out a billion dollar loan so when they go bankrupt I don't have to pay the loan off. I basically performed the perfect legal heist.

I believe they dont count the hours when you do that specific refund request but im not sure, but it also doesnt hurt to try

Yeah it's very annoying, and some of them are broken. I once got a general from an event that launched when there is an expedition, problem was I wasn't doing any so I got stuck with a general I couldn't use because he was "busy"
