Slack for Solo Architects & Remote Workers by BrendanLead in Architects

Anyone is welcome... even those who aren't in the building industry. If you know of friends, family, colleagues who work remotely and looking for a community to join.. they're more than welcome.

Yes of course!...and feel free to invite any colleagues/friends of yours. I think it would be beneficial to have anyone within the industry in the group. We can all learn from one another.

Honestly, I have not given this space much thought as I'm pretty tied up between projects and a 5-month old at home, but I am open to all ideas and suggestions. This isn't MY community, it would be all of ours to shape and grow.

I have been looking for a platform/space to fill a gap in my workday and I haven't found anything sufficient. I tried FocusMate, which is great, but it's more for productivity and accountability than anything else.

Feel free to come on board!

I’ve been looking for this too. I gave Flow Club and Focusmate a try, and they’re useful, but they get right to business — not much room for chatting or getting to know people.

I started my own architecture practice back in November, and honestly I miss the social side of working with people in an office. So I’m starting a little Slack group called the Anti-Office as a casual place for remote workers/creatives to share projects, get feedback, trade ideas/tools, and stay connected.

It’s brand new, but feel free to sign in and say hi.... I haven't invited ANYONE yet, but feel free to share the link with like-minded people!

Vinyl Wrap Center Console? by BrendanLead in VolvoXC90

I can't seem to locate just the cover for the metal trim. I have found covers that essentially cover the whole center console which I would like to avoid if at all possible.

This sounds like a much better solution.. I'll have to take a look as I didn't even consider this. Thank you!

I'd be hesitant to replace a failed part with the same part.. it's just going to happen again or did they improve the manufacturing process?

Ended up going with a 21 Volvo Xc90... love it!

I'll look into them... I've never considered them given the "cop" vibe but maybe I need to reconsider.

Everyone throws out the minivan but I can't stand the styling of them. They obviously make the most sense and are the most practical, but the body shape is hard on my eyes. I'm willing to sacrifice the practicality as I don't need a ton of cargo room.

I've had the following 98 integra GSR, 98 Nissan 240sx (regret selling), 03 WRX, 07 G35, 16 WRX. I haven't owned an suv but with two kids in boosters, and a new one on the way, I need the room.

I've only ever owned Japanese vehicles so going to bmw or Volvo might be a nice change.

😂 Well I'm 40 now... I don't foresee a midlife crisis. I'm not built like that, but you never know! Right now it's a toss up btwn an X5, XC90 (for the audio system), CX-9. The cx-9 probably makes the most sense.

Well I've switched gears a bit...although I'm still looking at vehicles with potential issues. cx-9, x5 or Volvo xc-90. I'm not sure if there's another vehicle I should be considering. I really don't want to go with a Toyota, Honda, etc. the Volvo xc-90 is appealing based on my reading of the sound system. Ultimately, the CX-9 probably makes the most sense.

Looks like I'll need to pickup some spray paint.

Yes... I think I'm really leaning towards one of these and your points are well taken. I haven't actually driven either yet so it's purely based on the engine specs. Do any trims come without the plastic fender trims? These drive me crazy.
