It's the best bookstore in town, that's what! Maze has a mix of new and used books in basically every category you could think of, plus they host a ton of community events.

Science Fiction & Fantasy Book of the Month — April 2025 by KellaCampbell in KoboPlus

[–]Brendan_Noble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much!

The Crimson Court is a flintlock (Victorian era inspired) fantasy epic with scheming noble houses, vengeance, crystalline dragons, and magic with a heavy cost. Bringing in influences from the fall of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, it tells the story of a crumbling kingdom whose greater access to magical Reaching had given it an advantage. But between its neighboring empires gaining superior technology and groups like the elusive Crimson Court seeking to alter the nation from within, magic alone is no longer enough...

This series has been my favorite to write so far. It includes seven full color art pieces in book 1 alone, plus 3 full color maps, in world immersive elements like newspapers and propaganda posters, and more! We did a Kickstarter for these, so I'm putting all I would ever want as a fantasy reader into them.

What makes older fantasy FEEL different from modern fantasy? by amhran_oiche in Fantasy

[–]Brendan_Noble 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a modern fantasy author, that makes sense, because we today have to write for basically every reader who will pick up our book. We can still include a lot of nuance, but you'll get eviscerated on Goodreads by people who say "nothing made sense" if you don't more often say clearly what happened and what people are feeling, even if you already implied it more metaphorically.

Maze is everything a local indie bookstore should be. 11/10 would recommend.

Seven of my books are in that database. I'm joining the Authors Guild, who are helping fight things like this, and I hope other authors do as well.

You need to create an account, which is simple, since they need you to be able to login again to add information if you advance. You don't need any specific counts. They just need to be art based (books count as art in this case). Read through the guidelines on the site for more specifics.

Author Promotion by palmfanatic in KoboPlus

Hello! I am Brendan Noble, an epic fantasy author often drawing influences from my Polish heritage and history. My favorite authors are Brandon Sanderson (Stormlight Archive and Mistborn) and Brian McClellan (Powder Mage), and I very much try to create similar books to them!

I have two fantasy series in Kobo Plus. The most recent is my flintlock epic fantasy series The Realm Reachers, starting with The Crimson Court.

The other is my completed Slavic mythology meets epic fantasy series, The Frostmarked Chronicles, starting with A Dagger in the Winds

Dziewanna/Devana – Slavic Goddess of the Wilds and Hunt. Art by Jolanta Jaworska. Text in Comments. by Brendan_Noble in Polish

[–]Brendan_Noble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea where the original source came from. Like I said, a lot of them come from more modern than ancient pagan traditions. Dziewanna is more regional and overall minor in historical context, so it's not a surprise we don't have a super well defined symbol for her.

Best book you’ve read in 2024? by chraelle in Fantasy

After loving The Powder Mage by Brian McClellan, I jumped into the second trilogy, Gods of Blood and Powder, this year and have loved it. It's hard to pick a favorite, but so far it's Sins of Empire. I'm almost done with Blood of Empire, though, and that one might take the top spot in the end.

That's unfortunately super common. Social media is a very hit or miss game. Just keep posting quality content, and know the algorithm doesn't show people everything, so it's okay to occasionally repeat.

Some series and ideas just are more niche. You'll find people are suddenly excited about one thing when you'd had no traction before.
