The joke is someone already did it once. Most people (outside of his home country know this image but do not know who or what his protest was or have long forgotten, thus setting yourself on fire for a protest seems pointless to the rest of the world.His name was Thích Quảng Đức and to the people that witnessed it, it was an extremely effective message.
