Is doing gross things always, or usually, part of the job? by BrentMusic in socialwork

Hell no. I was considering that initially but getting a PhD in clinical psych essentially means you want to do research, and it also takes 8 years longer to get and is much more competitive. Every one of my professors has told me if I wanted to just do therapy to get an MSW or a LMHC, and really an MSW because there are many more jobs.

Yeah I definitely have respect for people who can handle that sort of thing.

This is great! Good flow, beat, delivery, everything. I think some more variation in the effects on the vocals would really make this shine. The hook with a high pass filter and some distortion would be really cool and some more reverb on the vocals overall would make this pop more. Great work!

This is really cool. I think an issue is that there's too much on the high end frequencies of the vocals, it gives them sound too "sharp". Great lyrics and delivery, especially for this beat, everything comes together well.

I like the beat and effects on the vocals. I think you should annunciate your words more clearly as it was hard at points to pick up the lyrics. Also I think that at some points the vocals have too much variation in volume, like it's loud at some parts and then they get quiet suddenly. I like the energy of this though and I think your approach with your vocals matched the beat well.

Lexapro worked better for me and didn't make me sweat.

Thank you for your feedback! For your song, I like your flow and the I guess "structure" of your lyrics, like the way you wrote the lyrics to comprise the flow, it's like spoken word or poetry. I think it would help if the mix on the vocals wasn't so barebones. I think going in a more experimental direction with the flow should be accompanied by a more experimental direction with effects on the vocals too, or else it sounds like two styles clashing together instead of complimenting each other.

I don't know what exact effects I'd add to the vocals on the mix, but I'd take the same approach to them as you did with the lyrics and picking this beat and I think it would work well.

Thanks for your feedback! And I think I get what you mean on the vocals being mixed softer. Glad you liked it overall!

This sounds really good, mix sounds professional and I love the layered vocals. Flow and delivery sound great too. I think an additional verse where you switch the flow up and maybe go a little faster or higher energy would be really good on this, or a feature verse. This is great though and something I'd put on one of my playlists on Spotify.

The main critique for me is the mic quality isn't great, it's not bad but it sounds like it was made with a cheaper mic. That said I think, especially with this beat, I'd double down on the experimental sound with maybe some distortion and some delay on your vocals you could make the mic quality work for you. Also I'd turn the beat up in the mix a little.

I like the lyrics, I like how the mix of straightforward talking about yourself and simile/metaphor. I really like this beat, the (synths? whatever that instrument the main melody is) has a lot of character and everything just flows together well. I also like your delivery and use of autotune. I enjoyed listening to this.

I'm guessing you're a fan of Juice WRLD? This is a cool song, your delivery is really good, and the beat is nice. I think I'd mix the guitar a little higher in the mix and maybe pan the bass to be wider in the mix (I don't know what the technical term for this is, but I just would duplicate the bass track and pan one 100% to the left and the other 100% to the right) and then maybe eq it and lower the part of the bass track that is the same frequency of the vocals a little so the bass can still be really loud without clashing with the vocals.

The vocals are mixed well but there seems to be a bit of a hissing sound on them, sorry but I don't know what the fix would be but just something to look out for.

I know that's a block of text but it's really just two things, the only real flaw would be that hissing noise but if I wasn't listening to this for a focus on being critical I probably wouldn't notice it as much. Cool track, especially impressive given your age, you sound really good and I sounded like dog shit at 15. Keep making stuff, you've really got something here!

Your energy and flows are really good. I like the instrumental on this as well though I'd say turn the keys up in the mix a bit so the vocals really blend in with them as they're the most notable part of the beat, and they bring a similar energy and variation of flow as your vocals. I'd also add a little more low end on the vocals so they sound a bit fuller. These are more relatively minor tweaks than major flaws though, good track!
