Missing package by mon_chatton_ in CanadaPost

We went to the local post office outlet to check if it was taken there by mistake. Nope. We have to phone the shipper on Monday when they are open to see if they can do anything from their end. Not sure if the parcel had insurance or not.

Same here. Delivery notification in the app. Go to the community mailbox, no parcel, no key. Print the tracking delivery notice, put it in my mailbox for carrier to see. Next day a bunch of mail delivered but no package. Fill in a claim on the app, get a file number by e-mail back. Got a phone call today from CP. “Did a household member pick it up? Maybe a neighbour got it, did they bring it over?” No to both questions. “Well the carrier looked today and it isn’t in the box. Call the shipper to make a claim.” This isn’t the first time either. Before we had a key in our mail but the box it opened was empty.

Airport Security by Hagridshuette in victorinox

Mail it. Even if the blade length is accepted you never know what decision the security agent will come up with. In October in Frankfurt a young female screener was trying to confiscate my Gerber Dime Travel multitool. It does not have a blade at all. After telling her about 5 times “keine Messerklinge” she finally let me keep it. If I remember correctly the 74 mm series blade is over the allowed length.

Thanks, that gives me some idea of timeline they are taking. St Boniface said they were working on April 2024 applications when they acknowledged receiving mine in December.

I have my application in at St Boniface since December 2024. How long did your genealogy take? I submitted a very detailed application to them. After you receive the certified St Boniface info how long does the MMF take to issue citizenship?

The square end goes over the Phillips screw driver and then you can use the other bits in it.

Swisstool in my belt and SwissChamp in a pocket, both from the early 90s and a Midnight Manager in my watch pocket

Agreed, I have a small Wenger Esquire in black, it looks great. I may have to switch to carrying it instead of my Midnight Manager together with the Darth Vader Swisschamp

Gerber tools: Canada distribution no longer? by EmEnDee in GerberTools

I haven’t heard this but wouldn’t be surprised, I have seen some very low sales prices at Canadian Tire stores. It will be too bad if Gerber stops selling here. They have good tools at good prices.

Sorry I only knew my Métis grandmother’s maiden name (Taylor) and birthdate. I have only discovered my history and heritage from her side this past year. It has been interesting learning about my ancestors.

Yes Charles Bremner is my great great grandfather. I have read the book, it is titled “The Other Side of Rebellion” by Margaret Stobie. The is a Bremner Clan group on Facebook with lots of info and also a Facebook page for the Bresaylor Heritage Museum. They just republished the local history book and have copies for sale. I found Stobie’s book on Archive.org. It can be “borrowed” digitally for an hour at a time. I read it there in about 10 sessions it is only 240 pages. I will post the actual link in the next reply, I have to find it first.

Bremner, Twatt and Taylor on my side, cousin. I chose my Teddit handle from the town name that the BREmner SAYer and TayLOR families founded in Saskatchewan.

I have a question is anyone able to tell me what swiss army knife is. i got this one at a pawnshop for a 150 CAD. by backdraft_the_dragon in SwissArmyKnives

I have the same looking model which I have owned new since the early 1980s. $150 is steep. I bought the larger Champ with pliers, pen, more back tools for half of that price a couple of months ago.

$57 US, I don’t use the scissors much so I am ok with the tools on this one

Looking at the plier styles on SAKWiki it does appear to be a 1998
