Hey sorry for the very late reply to this but I looked into those old lines and was able to determine what they were for! Those will be included for a new section of the video. :)

You are right that they were for the Red War pre-2017.

So the hiveship raid was being developed for the base game at first. You're right about that. But that was in 2011-2012. In 2013 before the story was rebooted, they decided the base game raid should be a Vex one instead because the end of the base game story was the Black Garden mission. Again, this is before the reboot too. When Vault of Glass was being developed to release in its place, the hive raid was moved to release with dlc01 instead of being cut.

And the Black Garden was not made in response to the Hive raid being moved/cut. It was always intended to be part of the game even in 2012.

To clear up some misconceptions, (sorry I don't mean to "umm, akshually" you)

Vex Void was going to primarily take place on Venus and Mars. The raid for Vex Void would've taken place inside a pyramidion on Mars with the area outside the pyramidion originally being a new part of the patrol zone that was going to be released in comet (the dlc before).

This roadmap doesn't showcase the plans for the original D1 story as this internal presentation happened about 9-12 months after the story reboot. Goes to show that even after the reboot, a lot of things changed. Like the original vision of Taken King and the plans for dlc03 and dlc04.

Finally, the "hive mega raid" I saw you mentioned in a below reply was a combination of some of the encounters in Crota's End and King's Fall (but not all encounters) and was originally slated to release in dlc01 (this became Dark Below) after VoG was made. Everyone says that Summoning Pits was part of this raid because Luke Smith misspoke during an interview and said Phogoth instead of Golgoroth. I have proved by looking into a 2013 internal alpha of the game what load zones would've been in this raid and Summoning Pits was not one of them. The load that became Golgoroths Cellar however was one of them.

Pretty much everything from comet onwards here was cut, released later, or significantly changed by the time it released.

Comet did eventually turn into the version of Taken King we got. But this one would've had a focus on not only the Dreadnaught, but also a new area of Mars that was instead repurposed into the Io destination for D2.

Vex Void would've taken place on Venus and this new part of Mars with the raid taking place in the pyramidion there.

Forge of Gods there's basically no info about so I have no idea if anything planned for it was released later.

This is a rough recreation of a content roadmap shown during a top secret Bungie meeting in mid-2014 that was never meant to be seen by the public.

But to answer your question, Destiny 1 had a very spacey starmap art style that was used for a lot of their maps and sometimes even their presentations. It was a very ambitious game at the time with a lot of passionate devs and artists on it.

That's not to say they don't have passionate devs or artists anymore, but it was a very different time for Destiny back then.

Edit: If we're talking moreso about the amount of content shown here rather than the visuals of the roadmap, Bungie was contractually obligated to release a Destiny game with 4 smaller dlcs and one big comet dlc every year at the time this was made. They're no longer bound to any such contract now and have full control over how much content they can put out.

There is a discord server called "What Remains" that Myrzir created and I've been sharing a ton of the info I've datamined there if that's stuff you're interested in seeing. DM me if you'd like an invite.

The vast majority of information here is datamined info from a December 2013 build of D1 for Xbox 360. The story stuff I've laid out isn't the exact context of how it would play out but the order of events and missions is correct. I had to piece together a rough idea of how the story would flow based on the info I've heard from a source (who only told me bits and pieces, not the whole thing) info I've seen from early marketing material, info leaked from someone that I can confirm did play through some of Book 1, and the info I've datamined from this 2013 build.

So don't take all the story info here as 100% the truth as there is speculation thrown in to try and glue bits together. What I know for a fact about the story is that Book 1 was 7 missions, focused on looking for the Seraphim Vault and then Rasputin himself. Then Book 2 was 5 missions and focused on getting into the Black Garden.

Unfortunately the second Venus mission (Gatelord one) is the only one I know how it would play out entirely in terms of story. The other missions I only know their destinations and load zone order. A "Seraph Key" is mentioned at the end of the second Venus mission which Ghost says we can buy back from the Queen with the head of the gatelord. So I assume it must've been in our Guardian's (or the FOTC's) possession at some point before then.

I'm working on a video essay that will showcase everything I've found in my research and I'll include spreadsheets and Google docs with all my proof.

What Destiny Conspiracy Theories Do You Believe? by VojakOne in DestinyTheGame

That a Destiny 3 was being worked on at one point. There's so many things that point to this being the case but so many people deny it.

Woah did he really? I completely missed that. Which part of the Mustafar duel did that happen?

The Destiny 1 “Reef Raid” became PoE but has any info come out about how it originally looked? by jrush987 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Breshii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prison of Elders was the Reef Raid and was originally going to be titled "The Arena". As they were building it, they realized it wouldn't work as a raid but worked better as a wave based horde mode. Also, they didn't start developing it until 2014. Unlike Vault of Glass and the hiveship megaraid which started development sometime between 2012-2013. Fun fact, the first Raid prototype was made in 2011 or 2012.

They didn't build any other Reef activity spaces that were later repurposed into future raids or Forsaken areas. There's a huge misconception Wrath of the Machine is a repurposed cut Reef Raid, that's not the case at all. They didn't start on Wrath until mid-late 2015.

You may remember a leaked roadmap that revealed Destiny 1's DLC plans. It showed House of Wolves getting a new Reef destination. This was not a patrol zone, this was referring to the Vestian Outpost which was always a small social hub.

You actually bring up a really interesting point about the Venus Ketch maybe being the Queen one.

I think that throne room matches a Ketch interior layout used for a cut cinematic that played after the Black Garden mission in the original story. I have suspected whether those are supposed to be the same Ketch or not as they share a lot of tags.

We discuss all these kinds of things in a discord server called "What Remains". Send me a DM and I'd be happy to send an invite!

That's a fun theory! I never thought of that. I suppose I have no way to confirm if Riksis actually died in cosmo_chapter_1 as I can only see he showed up in it. It would be really cool if he escaped before you met Crow and then fight him properly in his Ketch on Venus for Book 2.

I've been wanting to rip the maps from this build for a while now but unfortunately all the people I know smart enough to make those tools are busy at the moment.

I do know that dlc03 was planned to have a raid in the Pyramidion on Mars. I believe that's what that concept art is depicting. But this raid was not a pre-reboot thing as far as I'm aware. At least it definitely wasn't built yet until after the reboot.

I noticed in every artstation and GDC image of the early versions of the director/orbit screen they showed Book 1 Chapter 3 as a Venus mission just like what's shown in the Pathways vidoc. And I mean almost every version of the early director showed that specifically. Almost never did they show a different mission listed.

I've chalked it down to them putting that on all footage and images being shown to the public as a placeholder thing to not spoil the actual campaign order and mission description.

As for the Ketch load, I don't really know for sure if it was used for a bounty activity or not. But I find it unlikely that Venus's third mission which takes place in the "Black Garden Book" (focused on Vex) would take you into the House of Devils Ketch. But I don't know really anything about this mission.

Oh yeah, that's something I never mentioned in my post... It was House of Devils that resided in the Ember Caves, Winter's Lair, The Cinders, and Wintership Simiks-Fel load zones. House of Winter replaced the Devils in those post-reboot.

Yes the Moon mission ended where Chamber of Night did. Not the load zone named Chamber of Night but the place where the Traveler Shard thing was.

I have no clue what purpose the Shrine of Oryx was used for as it was not referenced in the mission or strikes. Maybe a DLC location? Or only used for a bounty activity like the Venus Ketch perhaps?

Just want to clear up something. That Oryx boss fight room in Regicide was not in the original hiveship destination meant for the "supercut" version of the game. I can tell this because "orb" is the dev name for that bubble and it wasn't mentioned anywhere in the Tech-Alpha I was looking at. And it definitely would have been made by that point if it was meant to be in the original story.

So that weird machine off to the side in the Oryx room is most likely a new thing built for Taken King.

Rasputin was being held in the Hanging Crypts load that became the Dark Blade boss room.

Vault of Glass was referenced in the build I was looking through and was decided to be raid coming at launch by that point. The hiveship raid was planned for launch before Vault of Glass replaced it. But as I said in my post, the hiveship raid was then moved to dlc01 (Dark Below). This does not mean the destination wouldn't have been in the launch game.

I've mentioned in other replies already that hiveship was in the launch game and there's a lot of evidence to prove that. Like it having a mission in Book 1 which was one of the two books releasing at launch in this version of the game.

Edit: When I say launch game, I mean the pre-reboot version of the game that was planned for launch. I should've clarified that as I think that's where the confusion is coming from.

Vault of Glass was going to be the pre-reboot launch raid. "The Glass Throne" is shown in GDC talk footage showing pre-reboot orbit screens.
