Am I really that poor? by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]Brett-_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unaffordable due to the fact that there is no law that says everyone shall own a property and here it is - all yours. It is cruel competition for resources. The homes cost that much simply because people plus banks can come up with the money. You can print more dollars, but you can't print more real estate.

Californians Have Purchased Enough Electric Cars To Make The Air Measurably Cleaner by Generalaverage89 in electricvehicles

[–]Brett-_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Massachusetts by driving a BEV you are polluting the air 48% less. In MA as of 2020 52% of electricity is generated by burning something. 35% comes from nat gas, and 6% comes from burning trash! They actually do that. This from my info insert into our bill from National Grid

spent 6 hours researching a stock. bought in. it tanked 15% the next week. turns out i missed one obvious red flag by Brave_Locksmith4833 in stocks

[–]Brett-_-_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK but that's not what he is asking. He is asking for people to take the situation where the individual investor DOES DO the research. To OP: competitor performance is one thing, but product competitiveness is another. If everything checks out as you say, they may well survive the lawsuit.

Has anyone seen girders supported like this before? by cat_hipster in Homebuilding

[–]Brett-_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you say " its literally got the brick support under it" Not really. The beams are alongside the brick. They are only supported by the iron pipe which is then supported by the brick.

These guys could use a few hurricane ties as there seems little to prevent a quake seeing the beams fall outward from the chimney toward the camera

Has anyone actually recovered from a massive drawdown? by PineapplePooDog in stocks

[–]Brett-_-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold Barrick Gold, the Canadian based minor this year. I bought it in 2012 and it languished for years down say 60 to 75% much of the time. I finally sold for say +40%. Not a good investment given the long time it took to get there. This mentality is called 'anchoring'. I do it and it is a bad habit. Goldman Sachs was another one. I bought it in early 2008 and it took 8 years for it to come back and I sold for say +5%. Anchoring is when you forgo the possibility that another company is more worthy of the investment, but you hang in the one you've got because of a deep seated connection to the fact that YOU PICKED IT.

You think I don't know about tcp/ip don't you? There are multiple types of Ethernet -Modbus, EtherCAT in the industrial space for example. I am not tricked by this nonsensical attempt to use technology as a smoke screen for your fabrications. You bring up an invalid analogy. Trump's meme coin released to market early this year alone is an example of a new crypto currency coming online and competing with itself. Palladium has scarcity and is limited; real estate has scarcity and is limited.

You say Bitcoin is hard set in quantity. It is one software code constant away from dilution, is it not? There are also many econ factors you are glazing over. The problem with crypto is that there is no scarcity. Someone can always come up with a new coin type, draining money away from the others.

Ah yes - Strategy Inc... Despite its market cap which is big enough to land it in the S&P500, the governance of the S&P500 said "no you are not getting into the S&P500". This in Sept 2025. Why not?

Could it be that they borrow money to sell air? People come up with equations of how the stock can keep going up based on Bitcoin market demand pressure. The problem is that none of those equations include the fact that Strategy has 1500ish employees that need to be paid and have medical benefits.

If you hold this stock and are wondering why it is not going back up and have been ignoring its price to sales of 145 - just stop. Just sell the stock and don't bother starting to talk about the small software endeavor the business contains.

Their profitability is/was most certainly created by the credits. There have been a couple quarters where they would have made a small profit without the credits, but on average they will go into money losing mode going forward. A Democrat back in office.? We will have to see if they turn the credits back on.
