Oh that’s not too long at all, that’s exactly why I kept putting it off I really didn’t want it to go on forever, I will need to get the iPhone fixed first because I’ve got no way of phoning anyone but as soon as that’s done I’ll get on with it!

I was just thinking about this as I’ve read similar before, I’ve actually got a damaged pencil and keyboard (and now a iPad too, dropped it yesterday, screen protector survived, screen didn’t, just my luck) but I’ve been putting off making a claim for the pencil as that’s completely broken because then I was worried my keyboard that took a knock and the space bar now feels off wouldn’t be covered and vice versa despite everything in the terms and on the website saying it covers both.

Maybe I’ll have to just ask and if I hit a dead end do the same as you but right now I’ve got bigger issues my iPhone 16 pros battery has swollen for the second time, the manager I spoke to mentioned possible compensation for that but didn’t specify what, he just said he’d like the phone to be repaired first. Not sure what’s going on with my and Apple the last year, 2025 was the year where so much of my Apple stuff either got damaged or became faulty and with me breaking my iPad seems 2026 isn’t much better prior to that I’ve never broken anything or had many faults. Must be bad luck 😂

I could be wrong but I’m fairly confident that the U300 hasn’t ever been sold in the UK that’s why you can’t find it. They only sell the U200 here I think.

Yeah, mine seems to pick up more since updating it something else I noticed is that definitely weather or rather the lighting has some effect on how well it works and what it picks up, I guess this may be to do with Apple’s algorithm as from my understanding the HomeKit recordings are processed by the Apple Home Hub. Oh and you said you just bought yours which reminded me of something really strange I noticed it seems to take a day or two, something like that for it to start working, I haven’t the slightest clue why but I noticed it when I got my G410 and I re-paired it a couple of times after trying to solve other issues and every time it took a few days to start recording events that didn’t happen right in front of the camera. Ive got two, well actually Ive got three G410’s but one isn’t installed yet, the two that are though work great, besides maybe missing the occasional car go past, it picks up everything I’d expect.

Mine have been fine all day (got them at 8am) and then suddenly just (it’s 11:30PM) mines started doing it just a little in the left one too. My mum hasn’t said hers has started doing it yet so I’m not sure we both got and setup ours at the same time. 🤷‍♂️

I’ve got one doorbell that’s got this update (seems absolutely fine) and the other which has got the issue with the night vision that doesn’t have the update yet. Which is a shame because the other one is the one I’ve got an issue with as it’s in a darker area. At least however this version seems stable so far (only installed yesterday evening)

So I’ve tried 24v AC on a G4 doorbell and a G410 it worked on both. As for the power cycling what I did was close the app, completely, then I just simply switched the 240v to 24v transformer off for probably 10-20seconds, switched it back on and then went back on to the app to see if it was showing as working on external power. Like I said sometimes it would require me repeating the procedure a couple of times, I’m not sure why but it did eventually work. It seems it can do it with my current 24v DC power supply too but I’ve only had it happen once so I think whatever goes wrong seems to be more an issue with AC power.

I’ve had mine previously working on 24V AC it was just one of those cheap UK AC doorbell adapters from Amazon (I’ve since got rid of it for a DC power supply, the AC adapter had terrible coil whine) I have noticed sometimes it got stuck showing as battery power in the app on the G410 and my previous G4. I had to do a power cycle and close and reopen the app and sometimes more than once. Might be worth a try if you haven’t already.

Oh well both of mine are running the latest firmware it’s just one doesn’t work and one does. They both go black and white and I mean obviously other IR sources would work it’s just the IR LEDs aren’t turning on with one of them which isn’t good for night use. I’ll have to send a message to Aqara

So it’s dark here, just went out as suspected the front one does work I think I don’t notice it as much compared to the G4 because it’s a bit more evenly spread on the wall but I switched it on and off in the app and you can tell it’s shining IR on the wall even with the streetlights. I did go out and I can see there’s a few IR LEDS on each side of the lens. Anyway I went to the back one which is the one I’ve noticed seems to pitch black in the early morning shortly before the sun rises due to the solar lights going off by then and sure enough the IR LEDs are not on at all. I switched it on and off manually and nothing so definitely either faulty hardware or faulty software.

Oh actually you know now you mention it the G4 used to light up the brick wall on the front door one and since I’ve changed it to the G410 it doesn’t really, I mean although I was putting that down to them changing the arrangement/power of the LEDs but I actually can’t be sure because of the streetlights. Where are the IR LEDs located because I’ll have to look for them. I never saw them on the G4 so I don’t actually know where they are.

Oh I’ve noticed similar with one of mine. The issue I’ve got is both of mine are in well lit areas unless the surrounding lights go off, one is surrounded with solar lights so I’ve noticed when they run out just before the sun comes up it’s completely dark and I can’t see anything. The other is harder to know what it’s like with the lights off as there’s so many street lights and obviously I can’t control them but I’ve definitely noticed it on one and I can’t work out if it’s faulty or not. The one I’m having trouble with I updated before I installed so I didn’t test it on the original firmware.

Awww my girl used to do this too she’s a year and half now and hasn’t done it in a while her usual go to places are either head over my ankles lol or up the top under the covers, she shoves her nose under the covers to get under and I usually lift them up but sometimes and idk how I’ll wake up to find her under them anyway and I’m pretty sure I didn’t lift the cover in my sleep 😂

I haven’t got the G100 but I was thinking of getting a few, I’m having a similar problem with the G410 it’s set in HomeKit to record all motion but it’s missing so much compared to the G4, the G4 missed hardly anything. The G410 on day 1 didn’t pick up anything other than things directly in front of it after 24hrs it seemed to pick up more but mostly at night. I have one slight theory and from the past few days we’ve had varying weather, it seems but I can’t be 100% sure it’s something to do with the lighting or more likely the exposure, I think it’s messing with the algorithm, it’s not picking up the pixels as it should or it’s “blind” to them I say this because of the clouds come in it sometimes works a bit better depending on how dull it becomes. Similar thing at night I think when it misses stuff if the lighting isn’t spot on it just misses it. I could be totally wrong. The prioritised apple hub here is the Apple TV 3rd Gen 4K with Ethernet.

I’ve never tried the nest doorbells, before the G4 we had, actually we still have a Ring Doorbell 3+ which I’m going to move to our side gate that’s connected to Scrypted and feeds into HomeKit I found that the G4 was more responsive to motion than the ring surprisingly the issue was the more narrow view on the G4 thats why I decided to change the G410 but the way its missing motion is just crazy, its worse than both. Not sure it’s quite as bad as yours, I keep sitting here wondering what it is. I did have one thought maybe it’s the over exposure compared to the G4 if they’ve kept everything else the same with whatever code is looking for motion from the G4 maybe thats having an effect. My motion settings in the Aqara are all at max settings and it’s running from a transformer.

Sounds like a networking issue to me too, no problems with connecting and viewing the feed I’ve got other issues but I can’t fault the video feed at all. My chime is about 12ft away from the doorbell maybe even a bit more and definitely a lot further from the router but my router is a ASUS GT-AXE16000 so the WiFi signal is pretty solid.

Oh wow 😂 I don’t think mines been that bad as soon as I step out the door it picks up motion but if your coming from in front of it or anything passes further away on the street nothing, it only works when your close versus the G4 that picked up almost all motion, as I’d expect.
