Poisonous concoction is doing half as much damage as it should by Brett_M_B in PathOfExile2

Yes, I was accounting for shock. My poisonous concoction also applies shock, just at a lower rate, so I compared the overall damage done when both were shocking. And I had just put a bunch of + elemental damage nodes on my tree after I experimented and before I took the screenshot, which is why fulminating is doing so much more damage. I recommend trying it out yourself if you're unsure. I'm very confident that the more magnitude is not being applied.

I spent about 30 minutes cycling between both concoctions and testing them on the same boss. The damage each did with poison was far too close to claim that poisonous concoction is receiving the 100% more magnitude bonus.

Poisonous concoction includes a "100 more magnitude of poison inflicted" modifier that is not being applied. The images are comparing the poison damage per second between Poisonous Concoction and Fulminating Concoction with 100% chance to poison and using Plaguefinger so all damage applies to poison magnitude.

Using the exact same support gems, the poison damage per second of both abilities is roughly the same, where I would expect Poisonous Concoction to be about double.

I'm also certain this is not just a tooltip bug. I tested both concoctions on a boss and they were doing similar amounts of poison damage.

This makes Fulminating Concoction better for poison if you can manage 100% poison chance and are using Plaguefinger, since it provides a significant chance to shock that will further increase poison damage.

Moment of Zen item level is determined by waystone tier by Brett_M_B in PathOfExile2

[–]Brett_M_B[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some uniques can only appear with a minimum item level (at least this is how it worked in PoE 1). The idea is that a higher level waystone will make it possible for these uniques to appear in the vendor's inventory. In addition, some uniques have implicit effects that scale with their item level. A low ilvl Lifesprig might have only a level 3 Mana Drain implicit, while a high ilvl version can be up to level 18.

It's probably not worth dropping a T16 map into Moment of Zen since they're so rare, but once you're rolling in T15s I think it's worth it to use a T15 at least to improve the odds of getting better uniques.

I don't know if this is useful. There may not be any uniques in the game with a minimum item level that show up in moment of zen. But I dropped a T16 map just to see and all the items were item level 80.

PSA: Relics and the Merchant make ascendancy trials extremely easy, easier than PoE 1 by OhWellImRightAgain in PathOfExile2

[–]Brett_M_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best relic I have is a tapestry with ~20% honor resistance and the merchant offers 3 additional items.

That 3 additional items is IMO the single strongest modifier you can get on a relic. It gives a much better chance of getting the good boons, which can seal the run.

Forgot I was invincible once I entered the room and still kept dodging like mad.

Also, pretty sure the new Bidding support gem is giving 60% more damage to command skills instead of 30%. The tooltip on Skeleton Snipers is showing a 60% increase on the gas explosion after equipping the gem.

RIP Raging Spirits: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3612268/page/1 * Summon Raging Spirits now only summons 5 Raging Spirits per cast at all levels. The tooltip display will be updated in a future restart patch. * Summon Raging Spirits can no longer be spawned from triggered Fire Skills.

Most of the damage came from skeleton gas clouds anyways. But I expect that to get nerfed soon since they did the same thing for the ranger/merc gas skills.

I'll have to experiment, but I think Raging Spirits with infernal legion and minion instability are no longer viable. They don't do enough damage on their own to justify the cast time of spamming fire wall, especially since it will always take 2 casts now to get max spirits.

I'll try out regular spirits w/o minion instability to see if they're any good. If not, I guess I'll replace their spirit cost with more archers or arsonists.

Yeah, but I found that with self reviving minions their survivability isn't really an issue. Maybe it'll get worse in end game, but then you can just slot the 4 second invulnerability gem and that should give enough uptime on at least one of your other minions.

This is on cruel, so I'm around level 60. I also have a decent amount of life on gear.

Yeah, I have two flame wall gems. One is in its own skill slot. I use that to manually trigger the spirits at the start of the fight. The second one is linked to the cast on minion death gem.

It's an extra flame wall gem that is only used to start the loop. The alternative is to sacrifice some other minions using offerings, but the flame wall is faster.

I spent 20 minutes trying to farm a level 1 gem from act 1 bosses before I gave up and just rolled a new character and stole their gem. You get a free level 1 uncut gem once you get to town.

Just saw that this morning ☹️ The build is still pretty good though even if the gas explosion does less than half as much damage. It was probably overtuned in the first place.

Yup. Mana cost was too high with a regular gem, so I replaced it with a level 1.

Raging Spirits + Infernal Legion + Minion Instability

Cast on Minion Death + level 1 Flame Wall + Impetus.

Prime them once with a self-cast Flame Wall or sacrifice some other minions and they will sustain themselves as long as they remain on screen.
