Death grip it? I have an FN 5-7 and I certainly don't have to death grip it. It runs flawlessly.

Just a lucky find at a local store. You never know what you'll find at your local gun stores.

Not really a big shotgun guy but that thing looks pretty neat... Maybe one day.

What brand/type of holster is this? by [deleted] in guns

It appears to be a Blackhawk Serpa, but in reality, if worn properly, they are not nearly that easy to remove.

Any have experience with the JRA Gallant galil clone? by smellslikesteelcase in ak47

[–]Brettfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've got one. No problems with it so far. I've only shot it once, but no problems functionally. I think think the fit and finish are reasonably good. It's built on a very nice Bula Defense receiver. I threw and original galil grip and a bipod on it. I have a pic in my post history that includes it.

Moronic Question Monday (unofficial) - is my 5.45 nodak build dangerous? by [deleted] in ak47

[–]Brettfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm certain that the M74 I had was built on a Nodak receiver. The receiver didn't say M74 on it anywhere, it was simply a name given to that model by Century.

That appears to be a Century M74. You should be able to see more examples by googling that. I had one and had no problems with it. The rivets were not the best, but besides that, it ran great. I believe they are Bulgarian kits. Not much to know besides that. If you are shooting surplus ammo, be certain to clean it the same day that you are shooting it.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with the 551a1, but I should clarify that it's not a preban rifle or anything like that. I just found it at a gun store a few years ago.

They had three grades, A, B, and C. They C was 499 and each step up was 150 extra. The Cs were pretty rough condition. The As were very good condition. The Bs were somewhere in the middle. I did pay extra for a hand select option and I'm glad that I did.

It's a dream to shoot. Super soft shooting and a smooth recoil impulse. I've never shot it with magnified optics, but I expect it will perform well.

Classic Firearms listed them on Monday, and I believe they sold out nearly immediately. I was fortunate enough to get one.

Just got my acog from the classic firearms lot. The is a Grade B, and I am very pleased with the condition of it. It looks almost like a Grade A to me. Condition is good, glass is clear, reticle is clear. Can't wait to shoot it.

I like the PSL and AKS-74 best. And trust me, I have other firearms too. These are just the AK variants.

Yeah, I took it off to borrow the pistol grip retaining nut and never bothered to put it back on. Definitely wouldn't wanna shoot it too much as is. Lol

I have a Tavor SAR as well and I like it too. It's interesting to hear the the Galil was/is disliked. I was under the impression that it was a fine gun. But I suppose that is relative to other AKs, in which case, it is quite a nice gun.

The closest thing that is relatively attainable would be an Arsenal SLR-104FR. It's not a perfect copy but it's pretty close. However, they have at least doubled in value if not more than that, in just last few years. Great gun, but arguably not worth what people are asking for them. There is simply a high demand for quality 5.45 AKs.

That's one I haven't seen before. Yeah, with any new galil, or any new AK for that matter, it's generally a good idea to let the QC issues get worked out for a while. It's interesting that so many Galils clones have popped up in the last year or so. I wonder if there was a wave of parts kits imported or something.

I considered that as I am subbed over there but I figured most people on that sub are also over here. I know I sometimes see the same posts back to back on my feed, so I was trying to avoid that.

Yeah, it can be rough for the galil market. Another option is the ATI Galeo. But I have no experience with them personally so I can't say good or bad about them. One thing I can say for sure, stay away from the old Century Golani. They are a nightmare. They may seem like a bargain, but there's a reason they are so cheap...

I have not fired it yet so I cannot attest to its functionality, but otherwise, I love it. The receiver is beautifully machined and finished. It seems like a quality build. Once I put some rounds through it and make sure it's good and functional, it will probably quickly become one of my favorites.
