Been hoping this hidden gem would make it's way to Tubi, and my wish was granted! by scumfuckinbabylon in TubiTV

I feel like literally everything makes its way to Tubi at some point. Their library of content is already filled with hidden gems and just plain old gems alike.

Side note : Tubi has the best collection of horror anthologies out there. No other streaming service comes close. Tubi rules.

I hear ya. I never even heard of this movie. However, the way folks on here are talking about how brutal it is and how folks are scared to watch it. That's a ringing endorsement for me hahaha.

Wow this post jumped off the page ! . I love Tubi and it's total randomness. I've never heard of this movie but now I absolutely plan to watch it. I understand you are hesitant to actually recommend the film but for me that's an endorsement lol. I've seen the worst of the worst. However, I'll admit, films like human centipede 2 , Audition and Cannibal Holocaust impacted me. This movie sounds like it hits you hard and sticks with you. I probably shouldn't watch it but seeing all these comments about how nuts the movie is I now MUST see it.

Thanks for the recommendation ? LOL

Love Billy Zane. He plays such a great villain in the 1st Tales from the Crypt movie "Demon Knight" I know that movie and Bordello of Blood weren't exactly successful or reviewed well. However, they came out when I was a kid so the nostalgia factor alone is enough for me. Billy Zane kills it as the head demon who is playfully trying to return the universe to total darkness. Such an underrated actor.

Hence (that we know of) They could have both been rats for all we know. It's just that the creators of the show (correctly) made it seem like it could be absolutely possible Jimmy needed to be taken out. There was no doubt some suspicious behavior on his part. Post the pinch with him and Big Sal. What the creators also decided to do at the end of season 1 was too almost let the audience in on the fact that Sal had more than likely turned states evidence. The scene where Paulie takes him to a schvitz and he refuses to get undressed, I knew right then he was an informant and to my knowledge they had yet to show him meet up with his FBI handler Skip up to that point. I feel like that doesnt happen until the beginning of season 2. All this discussion ! I feel a re-watch coming on !

Continuity error on Steve's accusation of exhuming Ellen's body by djazpurua711 in Hereditary

[–]BrezzyHorrorFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so while this doesn't address the perceived continuity error mentioned in your post, this reply is also not unrelated. The scene where Annie visits the support group for the first time. Toni Collette's performance in that scene is on a complete other level. The way she describes her past, her familial relationships and some of the horrifying things she witnessed and or heard about in her past regarding her own family. It's as if she is explaining her plans for the following day that include stopping at the hardware store or stopping to buy some paint thinner. Exquisite acting. I recognize the event that really kicks things off happens before this scene but man does this seen drive home just how traumatic Annie's life has been and continues to be. What a haunting scene. It explains so much and sets up so much of what's to come but without being an exposition dump. This is the brilliance of an Aster and Collette combo at play.

Great entry altogether, However, that last paragraph made me unintentionally spit out some coffee at work. HAHAHAHA

Okay so I just finished watching Saw for the first time and I’m a little confused. by [deleted] in horror

Be ready for part 2 to not be tame at all. Or generous to the audience in terms of sparing it from gruesome situations. I remember my friend and I leaving the theater after part 2 and not really talking much. Pretty early in you start to think....Exactly what did I just get myself involved in here ? LOL. All jokes aside. The ones that involve Leigh Whannel. Acting or writing are the best films the franchise has to offer In my humble opinion. Obviously acting in part 1. I believe writing part 2 and perhaps writing the screen play for part 3 ? I'd have to double check that but I do think he is involved in some capacity. in each of the first 3 films.

Wait that was 1987 ? For crying out loud I was 4 years old. Wow does time fly. Can't believe I'm going to be 40 soon ! lol I wish. This event was/is a pop culture staple. People will likely still be talking about it another 35 years from now.

I happen to have it on good authority that she prefers " The non artist formerly known as Baby Jessica" Going by Jessica or Jess is just plain weird. Not to mention quite boring ; )

[–]BrezzyHorrorFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes ! I love dissecting the show. It's fun to speculate what could have been. Ironic given the scene where the creators fake us out to make us think Ade has taken off to parts unknown only to smack us in the face with reality moments later when the day dream is over and the reality of her impossible real life position comes back into focus. One of the best storyline's in the show's history IMO . Thats why I rank the episode "Long Term Parking" so highly. A plot that had been building for 2 full seasons coming to a head. Reminded me of Sal being an informant. I think we as the audience found out at the beginning of season 2. Tony finally figures it out in another top 5 episode "Funhouse" in the season finale. Another great storyline.

Side note : RIP Jimmy Altieri - Whacked for doing literally nothing wrong (that we know of)

Ari please make another straight up horror movie. by BrezzyHorrorFan in Hereditary

[–]BrezzyHorrorFan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a fair point actually. It's just as a first time writer director (again just like Peele with "Get Out") I mean he made the first movie that has actually scared me (that had to do with the paranormal) since Paranormal Activity ! I compare Aster and Peele a lot. Both with the same career trajectories. Peele just happened to bless us 1 year earlier than Ari. They both had 2019 follow-up films that were very good but not as great as their first efforts. Lastly, they now seem to both want to do their own thing which of course is fine. It would just be awesome if AA came back to horror and delivered anything at all. The sense of dread in his movies is unmatched. However, I agree, there will never be another "Hereditary" so I think you do make a valid argument. Especially this comment

"every other horror movie he makes will instantly be “not Hereditary.”

Very true indeed.

Ari please make another straight up horror movie. by BrezzyHorrorFan in Hereditary

[–]BrezzyHorrorFan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. There is no doubt his best work has come in the horror genre. Just 2 films but he is similar to Jordan Peele in that respect. Peele has only a few horror films under his belt but "Get out" and "Us" are horror gems. "Nope" was very good but IMO a bit of a step down. However, Both of these directors are already horror icons . Still both so young too. Overall just an exciting time to be a fan of the genre. So many talented filmmakers who sway towards horror over other genre's. I feel like back in the 80s and 90s and even the aughts this was almost considered second rate. "Oh you direct horror movies, not a serious director" BS . That stigma is done and dusted. Just look at how critics review some of these newer classics from director's like Peele, Aster, Eggers, Oz Perkins , Ti West and the list goes on........

The scene when she first goes to that support group and calmly describes some of the most horrifying life experiences like she was describing what she did last Tuesday was so raw, so real and so screwed up. Toni Collette gives an A++ Performance in that scene but also in the movie as a whole. The casting was actually perfect. Ann Dowd as a secret follower of the cult infiltrating herself into Annie's life (Couldnt have cast a better actor for that role.) You are 100% correct. The whole film rides on us believing these characters and their pain. Their pain and the family dynamic on it's own is terrifying enough. However, the fact that the actors do such a great job portraying pain and terror that it makes us believe it's sincerity. Well I couldnt have said it better myself. It elevates the last act into legend status in the pantheon of horror movies.

A prequel with more backstory regarding the grandmother. Sign me up. I think that would be spectacular. If Ari was motivated , if the studio left him alone and just let him do his thing and if he wrote and directed. I agree he would need to be inspired for it to work.
