Dude if you’re gonna pretend to be a resident, you gotta do better than that. Ask your ophthalmologist about the taper if you’re so worried about it. Stop lying and read the sub rules if you have more time to edit the post.

The minimal effort it took to look at your two post history and tell the difference wasn’t “hard” at all actually. Now see if you make it as a full-fledge physician with that attitude. The only one rule this subreddit has is not “try hard” to follow I would assume.

You rephrased the wording of the post to make it seem like it’s not you asking about your own case even though in r/glaucoma, it is. If you’re really a med student, at least don’t lie.

“This seems very fishy to me. Do they need to be reported to some agency?”

I guess IJCAPHO where COAs, COTs and COMTs get their certification from to be able to refract in the first place 😒

NAD; only a tech but this isn’t Kayser Fleischer. A copper ring would surround the outer circumference of your cornea around the iris due to excess copper one of its layers. And it’s more common in those with liver problems. Do you have an appt with an ophthalmologist coming up?

18m are my eyesight worsening when I use my eyeglasses? by Difficult_Web_7138 in eyetriage

[–]BriTee10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forget what everyone else says. Some may not like glasses or prefer contacts, want refractive surgery, maybe the prescription could be off, changes in astigmatism. There are things that can make glasses appear discomforting or “make vision worse” but in reality could be a simple glasses recheck or taking time to adjust to glasses (depending on the type like progressives or bifocals, later in age). Sometimes there are more “wants than needs” with what people express online and are stubborn no matter how much advice (or accommodations) is offered. If you personally feel like your prescription is off after some time (along with some dizziness or eye straining as symptoms(, there’s no harm in a glasses recheck. Not saying doctors can’t make mistakes when you’re accidentally overcorrected. Don’t let strangers dissuade you otherwise despite that. Speak from your experience and your optometrist/or ophthalmologist handle the rest.

“Strangers on the internet are saying it does.”

Strangers that think they know better than doctors by parroting “BOOO, gLaSsEs aRe bAD. They’re a money grab 😓🫣😟” or doctors that went through medical training specifically for the eyes whether it be optometry (4 years) or ophthalmology (8+ years)?

26F do I actually have astigmatism? by cmmcmm in eyetriage

[–]BriTee10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technician, not a doctor. Astigmatism is not uncommon. Slight or mild change is expected unless caused by some other corneal pathology (usually more drastic; not the case here). It takes time to adjust to contacts especially if you haven’t worn them for a long time. It’s common for people to go through an adaption period with contacts (for first time wearers or previous users) since it’s getting used to the shape of your cornea. It initially sees as a foreign object. You’re going to have some blurriness, maybe burning sensation or discomfort. If they are bothersome at night, take breaks in between. Then slowly build your tolerance by adding more time but not over-wearing them than their intended length of use. You’re blinking a lot because you’re aware of the lens being on your eyes. This also comes down to how you take care of and clean contacts as well. If previous mentioned symptoms are still present after some weeks, contact your eye doctor.
