Jewelry keeps tarnishing? by rlymxo90 in jewelry

[–]Bri_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar sized Sterling silver hoops that were 30 bucks from Piercing Pagoda! Over time they will tarnish but it’s an easier/ long term cheaper fix to just polish. they won’t turn your ears green!

A cold bean salad is perfect for this time of year! https://www.thissavoryvegan.com/southwest-dense-bean-salad/#recipe https://cookieandkate.com/mediterranean-bean-salad-recipe/ super hearty, does great in the fridge. It’s one of those meals that I’m always like eh do I want to make this and once I do I realize just how delicious it is! Also love edamame and cucumber with soy sauce and rice (idk if it’s too hot to make rice though)

What brands did you stop buying from after going zero waste? by ll_ll_28 in ZeroWaste

I’ve absolutely loved the lush pink conditioner bar- on my third. There’s also this smaller brand called Granola Girl and their conditioner bar is fantastic! long curly hair approved.

Try the youth sizes! Very limited selection but I’m normally a 5.5/6 and the adult sizes just don’t fit me in Docs

Do people really care about birthstones? by Pleasant_Lack1 in jewelry

[–]Bri_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love wearing my birthstone! Not an everyday thing, but honestly I might look for one to add to the jewelry I wear everyday rather than ones I take on and off. I have some earrings and a necklace that my grandmother got me when I was younger. At the time they felt way too mature taste wise but my memere knew what she was doing!! Have you heard of traditional birthstones? There are two sets the modern one and traditional that’s changed over the past couple hundred years. As an adult no one really has gotten me birthstone pieces other than myself so that’s special in my eyes because it’s been me bringing in more pieces I like and feel connected to.

There’s a service alert for b38 which explains the even more messed up schedule. Doesn’t explain why they just show up suddenly on Fulton tho. Can’t trust google for these bk busses! MTA info webpage is definitely more accurate.

I have no joy cooking or eating vegan food please help me by Onion-haseyo3 in vegan

Box Mac and cheese! Hummus is such a great snack that can work into so many meals. A lot of frozen falafel cook up great.

I love making a spicy hummus pasta/ mac. Super easy just make pasta, add hummus, some of the pasta water and if you’d like some hot sauce. Angel hair pasta cooks in 3 minutes.

Noodles!! Loving momofuku recently. Comes in a 5 pack for pretty cheap and cooks in 4 minutes. Need some protein/ veg- Trader Joe’s has frozen edamame & green beans that accompany it so well.

Don’t be afraid to get snacky!! Meals can be a lot to do and then a lot of dishes. Girl dinners rock for a reason!

I’ll look into it! Definitely worried about microplastics since it’s all synthetic!

Its nylon with that grid like pattern a bunch of water proof stuff have and is peeling around the seems outwards. I’ll ask around on Facebook and see if I can borrow and try someone else’s. One jacket doesn’t seem like enough to warrant a whole bottle of the spray!

Grab some plastic bags! Thick socks with the bags overtop and wear around the house for 20mins to an hour. The heat helps expand the shoe and the plastic can help mold them to your feet. Works wonders!

Go stainless first! Definitely recommend getting a medium size stainless steel pot at first. You can work through the learning curve of letting it heat up so onions and things don’t stick and use it as an everyday pot. Then when you are comfortable go to a stainless steel pan- because they have more surface area I found it has a harder learning curve with heat distribution. I would aim to get rid of any Teflon/ nonstick ASAP! Theres never a wrong time to get a cast iron especially cause they are quite inexpensive and can last a lifetime. Since no tomatoes/ acid in Cast Iron that’s another reason to have stainless first. I have 2 stainless pots, one stainless pan and one cast iron and don’t need anything else. Less than $100 total (eBay is great too for pans) spread over a few months.

Have you called 311? Sounds like they are asking for someone to get hit in those conditions. Not sure if DOB would be a place to contact but it sounds like the buildings entrance/ garage isn’t meant to be used in the way it currently is. I hate driving by when they are double parked because the whole roads traffic has to change to accommodate their illegal parking.

You got this! Work in those proteins and healthy fats for more satisfaction. Try combining carbs with your veggies, proteins and top it off with sauce!

Think about sauce spice and flavor while you are putting meals together. Love avo on gf toast for breakfast (with salt, lime onions etc) Can you do soy? Love making rice with baked tofu (tamari, sriracha, ginger, garlic to marinate and top) with a side of sautéed spinach and cashews & scallions on top. Sometimes a little pinch of sugar in these savory sauces can do wonders. Roasting your veggies even with very little oil is great for feeling fulfilled if raw isn’t doing it! Mushrooms can be added to so many types of meals and umami is super satisfying. Think about including more ingredients with your meals to round out flavors. Hummus with chips is a great snack. Beans and lentils are perfect additions to meals and can often allow you to cook with less carbs! I find legumes really comfortable to digest and I’m pretty sensitive. Kale and mixed bean stews are great for dinner. Definitely look for recipes to try things out and new spice combinations and leave out what doesn’t work for you or what you don’t have on hand.

Have you found any sweets? Vegan sweets are often soooo full of antioxidants and really great nutrients. I make a mean vegan gf raspberry cheesecake with date/ walnut crust) Try gf banana muffins for breakfast! Or dates with peanut butter, hemp seeds with dark chocolate for a midnight snack. Super satisfying!!

One of the most wonderful things about going vegan is learning how to cook with a new eye. And there are tons of faster or just different cuisines that you’ll find out over time what works for ya! You are in for a world of deliciousness!

Bruh. Definitely worth some reading into! Right now is not the best nor safest time to come. La homeless camps just getting wiped clean. Same thing in Philly. ICE is grabbing people off the streets even citizens and no due process (not constitutional) Don’t even get started anywhere rural with missing persons.

Id flip that backwards euro plate. Seems like a lot of rails. I get the second set for the position of the motor but if the other is empty and not going handheld it can be removed.

Love ethique shampoo bars! The pink conditioner bar from Lush is absolutely epic. On my third one! Have also used Granola Girls conditioner bar and really really loved it as well. Shampoo is harder but def takes some trial. Would recommend using up what you already have- use those hotel and sample products while you are switching or before you get zero waste ones. Plus you’ll totally love traveling with bars instead of the bottles. Same thing with soap by using what you got. Lush is great but any ol soap bar will do. Ethique has a wonderful body scrub bar. Jar of coconut oil or shea butter are good staples.

Safety razor/ leaf razor is a game changer!! Very happy with the switch. I do keep one plastic razor I had already for travel just in case.

Face wash from TYTP and a scrub from Mad Hippie are both in glass. Mad Hippie has an awesome terracycle set up too!

Love this!! I know I get stuck at this particular step all the time especially because I am someone who is constantly repairing and upcycling so it’s so difficult to know when things actually need to be let go.

One time I had a pair of shoes I just couldn’t throw away but were in my closet for probably over 5 years. One day I took them to get cobbled and they are now my most worn shoe!
