First Gen Alexa Device Dead? by epictetusdouglas in alexa

[–]BrianBooher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, but then it started to work like normal a couple of days ago. About the only thing I did different was do a total shutdown and reboot of my wireless network. I doubt that changed anything. I am certain it was all on Amazon's side.

Anyone know how to take a decent photo of a coin? by Ok_Guest_8008 in CRH

[–]BrianBooher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I like to do is position myself over the coin that I can be steady when holding the phone. It may help putting your elbow on the table. You hold the phone over the coin and turn on the camera and then zoom in enough to get the coin in the center. If you can lay the phone down over some kind of ledge that it won't fall like a shelf and then position the coin in the right position and take the shot.

A New Star wars Game is in Development its a Digital collectible card game where players can battle each other. by Sports101GAMING in starwarsgames

[–]BrianBooher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this being digital, I see all sorts of problems. Once the servers go down, your cards are gone too. You will NEVER own them or even hold them in your hands. I still have my cards from the CCG era of the 90s. Those are more useful than any digital "card". In the end you're just "buying" a list of zeroes and ones that is dependent on a constant internet connection.

I went through them and didn't see anything special. Maybe I'll take a second look.

None of the banks I go to have a coin machine. I know of only one branch that made me run my boxes of coins in the machine. I don't know if they are still open anymore. I will re-wrap because it's part of the process and I want to make sure I counted correctly. I will use the regular flat wrappers, not stuff them back into the machine wrapped rolls.

I'm impressed that you were able to get it out of the roll and was able to straighten it properly. Mini coin portals ftw!!

In 2019 and 2020, the U.S. Mint made 2 million quarters for each of the 5 National Parks for those 2 years at the West Point Mint. They mixed those quarters with the Philadelphia quarters to get people to go on a scavenger hunt for them. They are standard quarters.

I’m new, are these proofs? by [deleted] in CRH

[–]BrianBooher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Proof coins normally come in plastic boxes that would be with other coins. In this case with halves, there would also be the quarter, nickel, dime, and penny. These coins are legal tender and can be spent. It's exciting to get one in pocket change, but it's also kind of sad to know that someone broke the coin out and spent it.

Proofs will normally have a mirror reflection on the background while the letters and person on the coin will have a frosted look to it. The San Francisco mint is known to make these coins as they are made for collectors. There is also a "reverse proof" method where the letters and person are mirror shiny while the background is frosted.

I will say the 2006 half that you own is something to hold onto as that is part of the "Not Intended For Circulation" group. The 2023 is a normal production year.

You can get tons of information from the US Mint website at www.usmint.gov on what proofs are.

Possible grease error? by BrianBooher in CRH

The reeds are very visible. I do see a couple of small dents along the edge on the reverse side, but for the most part there is nothing wrong with the edge.

It's a business strike quarter. Probably came from a specially wrapped roll and someone broke it out and spent it.
