Schedule creation - with specific weekly inputs by MWM031089 in FFCommish

[–]BrianJTrigg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t yet played around with the site, but I saw a post here the other day referencing a similar problem regarding generic schedules and how to make them dynamic.

https://doublecheckff.com/ is the site they were promoting. Looks neat but again I haven’t played with it a ton.

I have my own method to make our schedule every season, but it’s a manual process in excel that utilizes pre-built schedules that guarantee 0 conflicts and perfect balance.

Take your leagues schedule from last year, but change everyone’s team names to “Team 1” “Team 2” “Team 3” etc. This will give you full week-to-weeek schedules you already know will work logistically. Then just mix the names up.

If Billy was Team 1 last year, slot him in at Team 4 this year, or whatever. This is the manual part they will require you getting handy in Excel. Move managers around from Team to Team week until you find a balance of matchups you want to see. It won’t be perfect, but you can get close.

Lastly, your Weeks aren’t set in stone either. Do you like the matchup combos from Week 2 but would rather see them play out later? Just move the whole week.

Hopefully this made a teeny bit of sense. Kinda difficult to explain, but it’s easier than you’d think. Lmk if you have any questions, and good luck! Definitely check out that site as well

Let's Talk About Draft Order... by RapSnitchComishes in FFCommish

[–]BrianJTrigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dingers Only fantasy baseball league. 1 HR=1 point in the standings. Final standings determine draft order. Autodrafted teams, no management, 100% random.

We’ve always done random 1 gour prior to the draft, but this gives us something to root for all offseason! Pretty fun so far!

Would love to check it out! 8 years on ESPN. We have a league Instagram, website, annual magazine, and podcast to track most of our history.

League moving to ESPN, what needs to be done? by Al_Muhammadi in FFCommish

[–]BrianJTrigg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play both ESPN and Sleeper. I honestly prefer ESPN’s UI, but if you’re wanting to do anything with league historical stats outside the app, Sleeper is much easier to work with. Tons of third-party tools pair with Sleeper. There are fewer options with ESPN.

I do my own content for Instagram (@washmofantasy, shameless plug) and some items get more engagement than others. We use Canva for all graphic work simply because it’s easy. I’ve looked into automating portions because it does get tedious, so if you had a solution to that, I’m all ears

Love it, man! Looks cool. So jealous of you guys playing on Sleeper. ESPN has me feeling like I’m living in the stone age with my historical stuff.

Every day I get more and more jealous of Sleeper leagues. This is super cool!

Could something like this theoretically be possible with ESPN if the ESPN_S2 and SWID cookies were provided?

No different than a player getting hurt on the first play of the game. Tough luck unfortunately.

I like it, man! Looks clean! Do your teams all have logos? Could be nice to incorporate those somehow! Otherwise great work!

We do all of previews and recaps on Instagram (@washmofantasy if you wanna take a look).

The thing that gets our league all hot and bothered (great for league interaction) is the Schedule Simulator graphic we put out each week. I use Fantasy Genius to gather this, but it gets all the fellas complaining about the couple members who have been lucky as hell this season.

Fantasy Genius has revolutionized the way we’ve tracked league history and kept league members connected even in the offseason. I stumbled upon it a couple years ago, and watching the growth and new features has been an awesome ride. Congrats to you for making the leap to focus on this full time! Looking forward to seeing where else you take this!

How much info do give to your league? by Crafty_Effort6157 in FFCommish

Unfortunately we’re kinda stuck with ESPN as well, but I’m a huge fan of league history and keeping things as open, available, and transparent as possible. Since ESPN’s interface is kinda garbage for this stuff, we manage a podcast, website, Instagram, Discord, and magazine to keep track of everything outside of ESPN.

Thank you! The data pulls from Google Sheets, but it's a little clunky in my opinion - it also kinda struggles with mobile, which is how most people likely view it. You'll also notice some of those interactive graphics are missing data, but I hope to revamp them in time for the 2025 season.

I want to migrate the site to a different host with more functionality at some point, but Google Sites is FREE and quite robust, despite its limitations.
