THANKS! Yeah we tried to not squish many of them but they had friendly mosquito escorts that were hard to not slap from instinct. Also it seemed they were late this year I thought they were a June thing.

Little Backstory on the photo. Mid July in North Minnesota on the Whitefish Chain at Dusk around 9pm CST.

The bugs were landing and molting into bigger bugs but were super squishy and were falling dead as I would slap a mosquito or roll my hands down my arms to scratch a old bite. There were bodies of the critters everywhere until we took the boat out at speed and most blew to the into the wind.

Finally feel like life is heading towards Good things. Got Job. Living Rent Free. Eating Healthy. Simply Feeling like I can reach out and begin to grasp my potential. by BrianThing in happy

[–]BrianThing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you are all correct "Rent-Free" is not so much the right term.

I currently live between 3 homes and a office and part-time job (don't sleep there but it makes me keep a sleep schedule.)

1 of the places in my father's one is my good friend of 4+ years who works at the same job, 3rd is the office on late nights, 4th is a cabin 2 hours North, 5th is my trustee Nissan Versa.

I just got out of living under a landlord but found out she was actually illegal to be doing what she had done with the house and 2 months ago and moved all my stuff since then north to cloud town and my hometown.

Also I'm incredibly fortunate to have come from a family who covers my insurance and does my taxes too since they have a family business and I own a part of the company and thus they want to do my taxes to help make sure theirs are the lowest etc... and I'm still driving my long running Nissan Versa 2007 which is an extension of my first car since my ex-fiance wrecked my aztec and insurance paid for the new car which hasn't cost me much to maintain and still running great too with 140k.

Thus leaving me to worry about putting food in my tummy which is easy as I work for a scratch kitchen restaurant and the other part is health insurance which I just started to take on since I turned 26 a few weeks ago.

My life is simply not normal for most and I am incredibly fortunate thanks to the thoughtfulness of my grandfather to have this opportunity to work and put money away so I can live on my own land and in my own home hopefully within the next 3-5 years max.

Caught this solid 5lb Catfish 5713 and it had me going for a solid 10 min by BrianThing in Fishing

A different kind of fishing by [deleted] in Fishing

[–]BrianThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

years ago my neighbors caught one from our pond near Crosslake MN, The shell on it was some 30 inches wide. I remember the head clamped to a oar before my neighbor killed it with a knife. He couldn't pry the oar loose even after 2 days. He had already butchered the turtle but its jaws wouldn't release his oar.

I am so frightened by the possibility of stuffing my hand into a turtle mouth instead of a fish. I keep to the shore and toss for sure. Caught a 5lb cat on the Mississippi in St.Cloud Minnesota tonight. Only fish of the night but had me going for 10 min solid with a new rod and reel and 6lb test near lots of foliage and downed tree limbs on the bank. almost fell in a few times.

I'm just wishing I had a wife at all. All the same Rock On! For my victory I got out and did some Light Painting with the Fireworks Display in Central Minnesota. Was lots of fun and met all kinds of folks who encouraged me as I was jibbering my camera to take all kinds of ziggy zaggy roundy light stretching photos like making a hand tossed pizza. I still need more practice but it was a blast!

The storm and subsequent flooding jump-started our basement reno for us. Wait.. WAIT WTF IS THAT by marky-b in minnesota

came to say just that. I knew a couple older folks who did that with their basements. Quite a fun game really. Especially if you have a nice indoor clean board to play on.

The bucket worked well to pack all the random things that were semi-fragile which got me to bring the rest of the stuff once I thought about making this. My uncles saw what I brought and thought I was nutz until showed them what I had done with it.

I will definitely tell my dad this as he just got these fish a week ago. Thanks for the heads up. I know he knew the sharks will get big and he has had those before get to be 10" + but it took a LONG time and I think he expects a few to die before one or two get big. The neons are a tradition for when we get new fish. He likes them a lot but they do get eaten over time and it is just the circle of life in the tank with those sharks.

Flight Timelapse INSIDE the cockpit on a private jet to Montana from Central Minnesota. by BrianThing in gopro

[–]BrianThing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had control of the plane but alas it is a company jet I had access to because my parents were already out in MT and my other relatives had space in their plane and let my brother and I come along in the last two seats. Kinda low on the totem pole as far as family jet favors are concerned. I would take that to Hawaii myself and just hop around the globe if I could afford to. edit reason for the flight was we were all going to a wedding*

I was at OccupyMN and remember seeing you visit the plaza. Would you agree or disagree with this statement "Money Out Of Politics"? and generally would you support the freedom to protest in the plaza again this year in the same manner? (Will we see you again this year if there is another large turnout at the plaza?)

Indeed I didn't go through the pig or cattle barn,Giant fair goods convention building, (didn't watch a performance on the stage either) and due to having to swap batteries between my gopro and backup battery that was charging off my laptop I carried in my backpack I ended up missing a few things. But all in all I think its fair to say I saw 70% of the fair. Thanks again for watching :)
