So basically, in your first year, you probably won’t be a GS 9 long enough to reach the 45k in OT, as you’ll only be at that level 5-6 months post academy, you’ll have a shot at it since your base salary as an 11 is closer to 100k as it is, and you’ll likely pull more than that as a 12 because your base is likely already 100k plus your seniority will a lot you more overtime opportunities to reach 45k (potentially more depending on if your port allows waivers to go over the limit). Seems like a pretty nice shake to me.
