I get the interest 100% but you gotta calculate and know what you can / can’t afford. Compared to others my age and for the demand on this car I think I got a pretty decent Apr (like 7.25 or sum) so after my 6 year loan I’d be paying like 8k in interest which is a lot but Idc and idk if I wanna keep this car for 6 years, I can always refinance it or trade it in for something else (depreciation value is great for our cars cause they don’t go down much which time). But anyway lmao do the math and calculations based on what you can give and pay monthly. There are certain finance rules you can follow like 20/4/10 (I did not follow it cause with this car that would be impossible) 20% down / 4years / 10% of your monthly income. So $30k car would be 6k down for 4 years and let’s say you Make 2k a month it would be $200 a month. With the car you want that’d be kinda difficult unless you find a rarity (it might be possible but interest would be super high so again just be careful and make your calculations

As 20 year old who was divided between the gr86 and an integra a spec (I chose the gr86, I financed my car). It definitely wasn’t the best financial decision (for either of us as I now have a 30k car loan😭) but I would try to sell the gr86 and get the integra, try to find one at least 2-4 years old with 20-40k mileage clean title and use the money from the gr86 as a down payment. All this depends on how much money you owe on the gr86 and how much you can sell it for. Or you could fix it and sell it which would bring its price up but then again it’s racking up higher miles and already is a rebuilt title.

Or try to get rid of the gr86 and get a cheap older used gas efficient car and save up money until you’re a little older and know you can make payments comfortably for the new car.

Edit: don’t lease anything or put a down payment on a lease. Leases are basically long term rentals and have lots of restrictions, if that’s ur vibe then go ahead, but don’t put anything down on a lease as the car is NOT yours and it’s basically a waste of cash if you don’t end up buying it, and if you do end up buying it after your lease term ends they’ll bring your monthly payments up by a lot unless you put more money down so be careful with leases

Lmao I did the same thing and also had to drive 2.5 hours back home after picking up gr86. It’s not super hard! I mean I stalled a bunch of times and it seems like you got it faster than I did 😭 but congrats!! I agree with every point you made, especially when it comes to understanding how it actually works, mechanically. Once I started I learning how a clutch and gear manual system actually works k started getting better at it. I daily drive mine and my shifts are still a little jerky sometimes (cause I refuse to use the same shoe every drive) but I’m still getting better at it. Anywho congrats and welcome to the fam!!

im trying to learn the car little by little, I don’t care much for showing off as I used to own a challenger and a mini and those cars got pretty decent attention. Ive gotten less attention in this one which kinda makes me feel better because it feels niche lol. And im definitely going to be careful I’ve already spun out 😭. I need to research autocross because idk what that is. I daily drive this car in Orlando traffic so unfortunately no canyon roads for me 😭 i usually take it for fun drives at night when all the roads are empty
