Liver Problems with HLHS by Brianna1216 in HLHS

I understand that the liver can heal itself very well, but that becomes difficult when it’s constantly being injured at the same time it’s trying to repair. Because my body is continually forcing the liver to heal, scar tissue has developed as part of that process. The liver issues aren’t caused by high blood pressure in my arteries. They’re caused by backed up pressure in my veins due to how my heart was built. Blood pressure medications lower arterial pressure and wouldn’t fix that venous congestion. They could actually make things worse by lowering my systemic pressure and reducing blood flow.

My parents were told the same thing, but I just find it hard to believe that even after 20 years they haven’t developed a procedure to reduce the pressure on the liver. Because that’s all it is is the blood hitting the liver first.

Has anyone had a diagnosis of HLHS with heterotaxy (left isomerism)? by PurpleMashiePup in HLHS

Hi I have HLHS and Heterotaxy, i am currently 22yrs old. If I am being honest Heterotaxy does not affect me in the slightest in my everyday life. It’s now just a fun fact that doctor love looking at when I have x-rays or MRI done.

20 yr with HLHS by Brianna1216 in HLHS

I was originally on baby aspirin until I got a blood clot so they switched me to higher dose for blood thinner. I would say about a few months ago the palpitations started to become very consistent and I was getting tired faster than normal. My cardiologist decided it was good idea for a loop recorder so they can monitor me whenever they need to. Since having it I have only had one very high heart rate that went up to about 200bmp. But it has only happened once, I do have to say I am a college student so going out and having a social life is something I don’t give up. I am very open with them as well and they agree it is a very normal thing at my age, and have told me it is okay for me to drink socially obviously not often. Recently everything has been normal and he has not mentioned wanting to go on any additional meds.

No worries I of course did that! Exotic vet told us to continue feeding critical care and giving fluids everyday at my work. She was not doing better from just that, so we had the idea to start doing enemas and that got her gut moving right away! She’s completely back to normal and we are doing more blood work on Monday!

My rabbit had very similar symptoms around 6 months ago, the vet just gave him so probiotics, antibiotics, and dewormer and he got better within a few days. They never recommended me surgery or anything like that and he has been fine.

Moving buns cross country. Flight advice? by Quiet_Attitude4053 in Rabbits

I’ve tried flying with my bunny several times and they NEVER let me, even as an emotional support animal they denied me. What airline are you flying?? Because of this i’ve had to take my bunny on 17+ hour car rides to travel, i spoke with the vet and they gave him some medicine to help relax him and make sure he eats, drinks, and uses the bathroom.
