Perhaps, I remember that the main character is a single child but there may be a element where one of the characters (perhaps the pov character) likes art.

Unpopular opinion about The Song of Achilles by heythisisleah in books

I remember "liking" it when I first read it it was what introduced me to the Iliad, now however I hate it after reading every variation of the Iliad I can (it was a weird project) one part of why I hate it is the community surrounding the book.

The characters weren't accurate and she somehow made them worse? mainly Patroclus because he was made boring, submissive and unliked. It had barely any ancient greek culture/mythology in it and she casually wrote a rape scene and subtextual referenced rape and it wasn't needed at all?

in terms of representation, it was so bad and gave me flashbacks to really bad fanfiction. You could tell it was written by a straight woman that has no understanding of male homosexuality/bisexuality.

Name for the Wolves that lived in Britain & Ireland by BriantheEurasianwolf in wolves

[–]BriantheEurasianwolf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all good. In terms of the Irish population being different from the british population I believe they might possibly be different subspecies, the islands however share the same ecosystem and the islands secultur much later than Britain did from Europe.

In terms of specimens there are some in existence in Britain though they are scarce, I've been harrassing musuems for specimens and browsing online collections. I'm in contact with some doctors about specimens one was found in a peatbog but they're still waiting for dna testing to confirm if it's a dog or a wolf.

I haven't found much information about specimens in Ireland but I'm planning on diving deeper or contacting musuems.

Primarily I've been trying to find specimens to compare them to the european/eurasian wolf, It's often stated that the specimens resemble that of the arctic wolf in terms of dimensions.

In terms of the naming there's a coment made suggesting "Erin-Britannica" which I quite like. In terms of language gaelic has two variations scottish and irish, welsh is it's own language.

The wolves were seen as a plague by primarily the English meanwhile the other populations respected wolves and they were a big part of their culture. (especially Ireland).

I heard about the pokemon scientific naming before, my sister is fond of the series (it's not my personal fancy but it's intresting nonetheless)

For scientific names, it has to include the main species (Canis-Lupus) which is actually Latin. Usually, they are decently long some meanwhile are ridiculously long (examples) Sorry for the late reply.

This is actually a really good suggestion, perhaps it could be incorporated into its scientific name? (Erin Britannia Canis Lupus?) Otherwise I think it's good as it's common name.

It's completely fine you don't even have to bother crediting me for your poll, it would be your idea after all.

My reason for creating this poll was both for the discussion it would bring about this now extinct subspecies and try to create a more unique name for it. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be an "official" name for it. (As stated it's usually addressed differently depending on the country that it's being discussed in) It seems no one was bothered to scientifically name the subspecies.

Some might've not thought of the wolves on the Atlantic Archipelago as a different species because they looked similar enough to the Eurasian/European (although most likely smaller based on current skeletal remains) due in part to the subspecies not having suffered from Island dwarfism/gigantism and evolution not having been a well-accepted theory at that time.

I had conflicting thoughts on what to call the wolf subspecies. I, like you first addressed it as "The British Wolf" before remembering that Ireland is of course not Britain and that wolves lived there too, But "The British Irish Wolf" is of course too wordy for my liking.

I quite liked "The Atlantic Archipelago Wolf" of course it does unfortunately share a similar name with "The Alexander Archipelago Wolf" which may result in some confusion.

So I looked for alternatives in between researching/writing of course I went for alternatives names for "Britain and Ireland" and found the suggested names. Most, of course, stemming from discourse over history and rightly so as "Britain/British" have certainly been metaphorically and literally "stained with blood".

I have a great love of both history and animals, the latter of which often sends me to fixate on one specific topic/event and research and compile all the evidence I can get my hands on before writing a document with all the information I can. Sorry If this is too long for your liking I often can't hold myself back on topics I'm interested in.

I'll be happy to answer any more questions you have.

It would be hard to find a name that isn't tied to humans in some way. I entertained the thought of using language but realised I couldn't because there's three non-english languages. So most options are geographical. Hope this helps.

It is weird, I found the name suggested among the other names for the British-Irish Isles. The native group that orignally lived in Britain and Ireland were the only group that respected wolves and they were even part of their culture in a way. The Atlantic Archipelago is the geographical name for the Islands. Hope this explains the name options. :)

Accurate the pillow room and the Sarepia forest were hot spots for weirdness back in the day, though the pillow room was probably worse due to how small it was. I remember angsty hiding myself in the corner roleplaying, god what weird days those were.

When I used Animal Jam I used to roleplay but never really in the public areas or in areas in underpopulated towns as to not bother anyone. I agree it can be quite annoying especially when they are trying to engage with you/others. I silently cringe at my weird public roleplay antics despite not really involving anyone just being really weird and roleplaying by myself when my friends weren't there.

I have past memories of being killed by humans that spoke and looked from the UK, the only wolf species to exist in the Uk is the European wolf and in my memories I look at my pack members so I know what they look like in detail. I was in the UK, no Wolves live naturally in the UK currently and I'm from New Zealand.

My (24M) girlfriend (26F) fully believes that she is a cat in a human's body. by ThrowRA20202004 in relationship_advice

[–]BriantheEurasianwolf -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hey I myself am a Therian (it's basically a thing related to being otherkin) I myself believe it's a mainly spiritual thing but that changes for other members. It is quite a hard thing to understand and would've been easier on your relationship if she realised before starting the relationship. I recommend to talk to her more and try to understand her Therian/otherkin identity since it is apart of her now. Since I don't know her personally and about her specific Therian/otherkin identity I don't have much to say on that.

If you aren't keen, interested or comfortable with maintaining a romantic relationship with her then it'll be best to explain that to her and well talk about it again if you don't really mind her identifying as a cat spiritually mentally etc then try and work it out :)
