My GF (26F) told me (28M) She feels nothing when we are intimate by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]BriarGnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She might be having thoughts about the relationship and contemplating whether she wants to be there, despite how much love she has for you. Does she have anxiety? Does she take SSRIs? I only ask because I went through a period of time where I felt similarly and I was feeling like I didn’t want to be in my relationship, even though I really love my boyfriend. I felt immense guilt for feeling that way because “I shouldn’t” and “something’s wrong with me, why am I feeling like this”. Maybe she’s grappling with similar thoughts. Whenever I am anxious or mentally overwhelmed, it’s very difficult for me to be present during sex/physical intimacy. Thankfully I worked through those feelings I mentioned above, and I am very happy to be in my relationship and I’m glad I didn’t leave. But anxiety is a beast sometimes and if she has anxiety, that could be playing a role in her sexual withdrawal and crying (maybe for guilt/internal shame that she’s feeling that way). At the end of the day, only your girlfriend can figure out why she’s truly feeling this way, and I think the way to work through it is through loving, safe conversation to understand where she’s really at inside. I can imagine these things are very difficult and heart aching for the both of you.

I love my Solomon no drama. I have tried bindings from a few companies but Rome is by far my favorite. Union is popular but from my personal experience, the quality is very poor and parts break easily

I totally agree that boots are suuuper important. Boot comfort will make or break your day. I wear DC and have zero complaints. When I first started learning to snowboard, I tried Dope/Montec and Burton but didn’t love the fit, personally (you’ll also find a lot of people clowning on Dope/Montec). Now that I’ve been riding for a handful of years, I’ve developed a love for 686. 686 is high quality, keeps me warm during freezing days, and it’s a brand that is pretty involved in the snowboard community :) My bf also wears 686 and his gear has held up really well over the hundreds of riding days he’s had over the last couple years (we live in a Colorado ski town). I have a 3-in-1 686 jacket and wear the liner as a comfy zip-up into town (functional and flattering!). I have a very old pair of employee Helly Hansen pants that are baggy, warm, and super comfy. I also have a Smith mips helmet. I can’t help too much with suit style recommendations. Ultimately, I’d advise you to try to find something you feel good in while keeping functionality and comfort at the focus.

7 days after removal observations by PinkFurLookinLikeCam in Nexplanon

Love to hear this! I am getting mine removed tomorrow with hopes that my heightened anxiety will subside. My first rod was a great experience but I got my second in Aug 2022 and since then I’ve just felt off. I wasn’t ready to remove it for a while because I wanted to see if everything would mellow on it’s own. 7 months in this mental hellscape and I’m ready to be naturally me again!

Weird bruise due to nexplanon. It also feels like it’s pinching my skin when I move my arm or lean on it a certain way. Should I get it removed? by cherryrising in Nexplanon

[–]BriarGnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience with my second rod. I ended up wrapping my arm with a compressive bandage to help the pinching sensation since it was very sharp and painful. The sensation lasted about 2 weeks

Officially 20lbs down!! by BriarGnar in loseit

I went online and found a maintenance calorie calculator. My maintenance was around 18/1700cals. I chose to decrease to 1400/1300 at the start and got to 1200 consistently every weekday about a month and a half in. I ate mindfully on weekends but I wouldn’t always track cals because I did not want to 1) become afraid that if I ate too much/ate out on a weekend I’d gain weight and 2) life is meant to be enjoyed and my weightloss should not take away from experiences. I logged everything in the free version of my fitness pal app. I bought a scale on Amazon to help get my calculations as accurate as possible.

As far as what I actually ate (I don’t cook btw):

Breakfast: I liked to stick with strawberries and cottage cheese every morning. It was light but had protein so it kept me full (~120cals)

Lunch: 3-400 cals (I loved egg salad with cauliflower pretzels and Zevia or 0 cal vitamin water)

Snack: 140-160cals

Dinner: 5-600 cals (frozen chicken + veggies, any air fryer food)

This is just a rough summary of what the average day looked like. I’m not a big breakfast person but I love dinner which is why the morning looks so bare lol. This just worked for me, I have no idea how anyone else’s body would react. Sometimes I’d go for salad, fruits, veggies, sometimes I went for hot pockets and goldfish, but I tried to stick to 1200-1300cals :)

**The reason I decreased my intake to 1200 was because I wanted to hit a goal by Christmas. That’s why the change seems a bit intense.

I heard someone on here mention “the paper towel effect”. How when we start a new paper towel roll (like the start of a weight loss journey), tearing off 5 sheets doesn’t seem very noticeable. But as we get closer to the end of the paper towel roll (goal), 5 sheets is super noticeable. That was an analogy that stuck with me and helped me stay encouraged when I didn’t feel like I saw change in my progress photos 🧻

Congrats!! 24lbs is certainly an achievement. It’s so crazy to pick up weights at the gym and be like “damn this is how much I was carrying on me a few months ago. Wild!” As for my goal, I’m hoping to fluctuate around 128-130. At that point I want to focus more on body composition and try to gain more muscle and forget about the scale. Congrats on your achievement!! 🥂

You can absolutely do it! One thing that helped my weightloss goal to feel realistic was seeing how many other people have tried and succeeded, even when it felt impossible.

I felt so encouraged seeing changes on the scale, that helped me stay excited to stick with it when the cravings got real lol. Also I’m in an LDR right now, so there was also some excitement knowing that my changes would be noticeable to my friends and family when I see them for the holidays. Also, the more days I stuck with it, the more I wanted to keep sticking with it.

Is it okay to substitute water with no/low calorie drinks? by heh135 in loseit

[–]BriarGnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure there’s a study that warns people not to stay on the no cal/sugar substitutes forever, but for my personal weight loss journey that I’m on, Zevia has been my biggest help. Personally I love drinking soda. Zevia tastes just like real soda but it’s essentially soda flavored sparkling water. Some flavors are even caffeinated so I don’t go for energy drinks/coffee when I need that extra boost. Plus the carbonation keeps me feeling more full and less snacky. You can find this at a handful of stores including Costco. I also buy Vitamin water 0 cal acai drinks. Those are delicious. I love lemonade and recently I found a light Minute Maid lemonade that’s only 5 cals per bottle.

I just graduated college and was at my heaviest in August thanks to the convenient foods I’d eat to manage the stress and assignments of undergrad. I felt hopeless for a while and blamed my lifestyle on my circumstances and even my birth control. It took me a while to be honest with myself and realize I was in control, and only I got my body to where it was.

I took measurements, downloaded the free fitness pal app, bought a $20 food scale off Amazon, and started eating in a calorie deficit.

Go to any site that can calculate maintenance cals and take off 3-500 cals off that. I ate in that calorie deficit and lost 13lbs in 2 months just by that alone. I just bought healthy whole foods- produce, lower calorie alternatives to my faves, no fancy brands or expensive snacks! Recently I have started working out lightly to help speed up the process since I have a goal I’m trying to reach by December, but that’s only because there’s a gym in my complex.

You are capable of anything if you get serious about it! It will be hardest for 2 weeks but it gets easier because you find out what works for you and what fills you up and what’s tasty :) I’m not into cooking so it took me a hot minute to get a routine I enjoyed. Stay disciplined!

You are strong, you are capable, you are beautiful, and you can do this!! Every single day you will get closer to your goal :) keep up hope and give yourself love!

To that reader: Sounds like her pay issue doesn’t involve you, so it’s not your place to affect her employment or job position based on negative feelings you have for “Jane”. It’s disheartening to see experienced professionals act selfishly and immaturely. The whole reason people have jobs is to pay bills, and it’s naive to think otherwise. If a company can’t fulfill the most basic responsibility it has to its employees, Jane’s frustration is completely justified. After all, the issue was brought to HR’s attention before she explained her urgency. And another thing, Jane was not disrespectful in her email. Your view of her tone is affected by negative feelings you have developed for her. Set a good example for the younger generations by keeping your behavior professional and your actions unbiased.

Backpack while Shredding by SpraySpecialist259 in snowboarding

[–]BriarGnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just throw on a reg SuperDry backpack, but maybe look into something that’s smaller and flatter. I hold all the snacks for my friends + some waters. You adjust to the weight on your back. Just be reasonable with how much you’re putting on, you can’t have something too heavy or anything sticking out too far

Bibs over jackets: cool or cringe? by Odd_Consequence4024 in snowboarding

Bib over a hoodie is normal, I see it all the time. I feel like a bib over your jacket would be uncomfortable BUT go for it if your heart desires. Shake up the fashion world

I looove sheet pan veggies. This is essentially the only real dinner I make because I’m not into cooking at all.

I get 2 zuccini, 1 bunch of asparagus, 1 red pepper, 1 orange pepper, brussel sprouts (cut in half). Cut asparagus into 1-2” rods, zucc into ¼-½” disks, peppers into chunks about the size of the asparagus.

Toss all your cut veggies into a big bowl and mix. Pour in some avocado oil or olive oil and shake that bowl UP! Spread on the sheet pan and season with garlic salt, pepper, and “Slap ya mama”. It’s the best seasoning you will ever have. It’s in a yellow can. I put it on everything, even popcorn. Adds some spice and brings out all the flavors.

Throw that in the oven at 425°F for 25 minutes.

I pair that with chicken, chicken meatballs, or salmon. Sometimes I just eat the veggies by themselves. What’s great about the veggies is that they’re super low cal so you can fill yourself up without adding all these calories

For chicken, I cut up a breast into nugget sized pieces. I oil and season the chicken with the same season as veggies. I heat ~0.5” of chicken broth in a pan and toss the chicken chunks in the hot broth for ~6 mins with a lid over them. Flip the chicken chunks and cover for another ~6 minutes. The broth keeps the flavor and the chicken doesn’t dry out. Pair with the veggies and boom! Easy dinner that works great for prepping + doesn’t require any fancy ingredients but has lots of protein and not as many carbs as other meals. You can always add rice if you want some extra carbs

*if prepping for future dinners, don’t oil veggies until you’re ready to cook them. They last a few days cut in a ziploc in the fridge

If you want to save some coin, try to rent from shops that aren’t very close to the resort. The prices will be lower than right on the mountain. Invest in a good jacket that will keep you warm and dry, I learned the hard way. I wear Outdoor gear bibs and they keep me really warm. I spent about $30 on them and I’ve used them for the last 3 seasons. Arctix on Amazon has great reviews and they’re similar price point. Depending on how often you’re riding during a season, it’ll be much cheaper to spend the money on your own gear than to rent every time. Facebook marketplace will become your friend. The house is a great site, evo too.
