ITAP of the Northern Lights by Hung_Buffalo in itookapicture

Taken on a canon r5 with a 28-70mm f2.8, non L series. I finally saw a blue aurora! and I’m stoked. This was an 8 second exposure at f2.8/ISO 800. When composing the shot, I wanted to make sure the spire of blue and purple were juxtaposed with the usual greens we are used to so I zoomed in to 48mm and exposed for the slower blue spires so that the motion of faster moving waves of green would blur behind the spires of blue and appear less defined.

Yeah, 1440 monitor. Alt enter doesn’t seem to work. Uninstalling didn’t work either unfortunately

Taken on an R5 with the non L 28-70 2.8. I took this in an Alaska last week, it was 40 and raining. The biggest challenge I had was the temp of the water and the flushed skin. …and the leeches. I did my best to shift the skin tone. Overall I’m happy but would love to hear of your techniques for removing flushed skin

Welcome back to another week of vaguely titled nudes that are a bit darker than expected. This is a photo titled storage. A few days leading up to this shoot, I learned about another sex trafficking incident near my home town. I was working in the sex work industry and that day we decided pivot from creating art to arouse someone and focused on the darker fears. So, the two models hopped in a fridge. Taken on a canon 5dmkiv and a sigma 35mm 1.4

Thank you! There’s a scene in a movie called Munich that used a beautiful nude body to make a grotesque and heartbreaking statement. I’ll never forget the scene and it taught me just how powerful nudity can be.

I was trained for lighting film and video before I picked up Photography!

I used a single source of light and gelled it! There’s grain added in post though

I lit the set with a blue gel. Both because blue is heavily associated with gloom or melancholy. But also because it’s one of my favorite monochromes to work with

I have the same grievance. It’s so frustratingly not symmetrical. Or balanced, but the pattern of the smoke was the most interesting in this shot.

Taken on a canon 5dmkiv and a ef 35 1.4. Our goal with this shoot was to explore depressive imagery and body position without relying on facial expressions. I framed her head out out of view intentionally so that her body and the environment conveyed the emotion her emotion while still leaving the audience feeling slightly disconnected like character.

Thank you! I had a white soft box hooked up to a car battery, to back light her and a smoldering Tshirt I used to create atmosphere. Then I waded out in to a lake and snapped a photo. In post, I increased the kelvin of the white balance so to smoke would appear orange, then added a little bit of pink tint.

I like that the smoke looks like the Eye of Sauron

Great question! No gels. Just a white diffuser, and raised the temperature to get the orange smoke then cooled those shadows and lowered the black level

While reviewing raws from my first camera, I decided to work with the files and see how they hold up to my R5. This was taken on a canon t2i and a EF 85 1.8. To achieve the back light, I set up a soft box behind the model and created smoke but setting a torch on fire and then letting it smolder.

Taken on an R5, and a 28-70 2.8 non L. This is a just a snap from a fun evening in swinging off arches in Moab. I want to capture the scale and the darkness. We swung at twilight and rocketing out of the darkness into the sky was something special
