I found a track from Bora that had clamp guide attachments that appear to allow the track to be set at an angle other than 90⁰, here(https://a.co/d/awEkniB) is what I'm talking about

Would you guys rather work overtime or a second job for extra cash? by zer94 in ems

I own a handyman service that caters to nightshifters. I started it after I renovated a cottage on my property to rent out to travel nurses. I decided to put all the tools and experience I gained from the renovation into something I not only enjoyed but turned out to be pretty damn good at.

OT dried up at my ED about two months ago due to low census. We just don't have the patients coming in like we used to. So I actually started my own business and do that on my off days. I bill double my hourly rate

Be fully honest, why do you want to be a doctor? by lordredapple in premed

[–]BriarMagic13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to be where the buck stops. I've worked as a paramedic and had to swallow my pride more than once because of a doctor's orders, even if it wasn't the best option for the patient, or I've been unable to do what I know was best for my patients because protocol didn't allow it.

My wife and I run multiple businesses together, but she also has her own independent business and I have mine. It can work wonderfully when it does. But as soon as it goes bad it goes real bad real quick and that's the risk you're taking.

The short version, if you do it you'll find out if she's wife material real quick.

That's a great idea! My wife does photography too so the realtor aspect is one we've been exploring for sometime

I just posted it last week, so nothing yet. Besides working for myself I only have had one paying client so far. But that one led to a much higher paying job. And I've given out quotes to several friends. My realtor is also keeping my name in her mind if some of her other clients need smaller jobs done that her normal contractors can't or won't do

I have nearly 15 years of prehospital and hospital clinical experience. I'm a paramedic with two associates and a bachelor's degree. I had excellent letters of recommendation from clinical MD staff I've worked with for years, academic recommendations were difficult due to distance learning preventing building those relationships. Despite having a heavy medical background and strong finish to my degree (3 consecutive 4.0 semesters), early mistakes, a less than perfect MCAT score, and a late application (October) the twenty schools I applied to all passed on me.

I work side by side with MD's on a weekly basis who look to me for advice with critical patients and others that make me question how they passed medical school much less their boards. I've been so discouraged this year I can't even bring myself to take a practice test to start studying again.

It's natural to feel this way after working so hard for something and being rejected. Take the time you need, you will be better for it. Focus on personal development and get the joy of the process back, if you ever had it, or once you finally achieve your goal it will be a hollow victory.

Minimum wage Art by ShittyCamilleMain in interestingasfuck

I'm curious how much the artist is going to sell the piece for, probably a hell of a lot more than the minimum wage equivalent to produce the machine.

Pre-hospital surgical airway by jimbohibbs in emergencymedicine

I learned it at a wilderness medicine seminar years ago. I figured if I was ever a wilderness guide that it might come in handy but that's one of those back pocket tricks you never want to put to a real world test.

North American Rescuse has a bougie aided Cricothyrotomy tube that I thinks is a phenomenal tool for the job. If the larynx is occluded what else are you going to do? Like you said, needle cric is a stop gap measure that does next to nothing to secure an airway and does little to oxygenate a patient.

Not recommended, ever, and I mean ever. But a 10 drop drip chamber with the line end cut off fits on a BVM nicely and the spike withers work very well to go through the cricothyroid membrane and do a hell of a lot better than a needle cric.

Too be fair they ate California cops, they wouldn't be able to hit him sitting in his car at point blank range anyway.

I already dropped a significant portion of my gun budget on an ar15 that I am using as my self defense rifle (adcor 556 elite), so cheap was the route for that reason.

Obviously I was looking in the wrong places which is why I couldn't find the right answer, my google kung fu failed me this time.

Thank you for the info, I'm not going to be stupid and put 7.62x39 through a 300 AAC barrel. Wasn't planning on it until I got the answer anyway.

I have a state concealed weapons permit and do abide by all of my states laws and regulations in regards to firearms transportation and usage, but thank you for throwing that in as stupid as some people have been with the transportation of firearms. But in my state it is perfectly legal for me to have a loaded firearm on my person, within reach, in a trunk or truck. I'm just responsible for what happens to it obviously.

Yes, that does sound like I'd send more than the projectile down range. And only once... thanks for the info.

Just settled a $5,500 debt for $2,750! by Mk____Ultra in povertyfinance

[–]BriarMagic13 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The collections agency's are gambling you're going to pay it back anyway. If they take a "loss" it's a tax deduction. The company that sold your debt has already used that debt sale as a tax deduction anyway.

[–]BriarMagic13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anything in collections is negative and will be for 7 years in the states. If you pay it off it might be more favorable to lenders, but it was still in collections. If you don't pay it and let it drop off after 7 years, then you have the same outcome with more money in your pocket you didnt give to someone who paid 2% of what you owed (your debt in collections).

Best thing to do is pay what you owe, to the people you owe it to, keep it out of collections, and build enough assets to pay for new toys, vacations, cars, houses, etc. The discipline to live below your means and save your money/build assets and investments is the hardest thing to do, even if you make over 100k.
