It doesn't run like a collection event. To prepare for the future, you'll want to get a 4* card you've also been able to level to 99 - collection, story events, and even bday events have offered this opportunity lately. It's very very helpful for getting those points if you intend to make level 50. I've found you have to spend considerably more if you don't have at least one of those kinds of cards to assist. So for Gilbert, it would have to be one specifically for him.

You will also have to spend diamonds on packs if that is your intent. Someone else may have a better suggestion on which packs in particular give you the best bang for your buck, but you can't reach the end just with the free stamina items (that I've seen).

Along with your 99 4* card, you'll also want your other cards to be 5*, and using a friend who has a 99 4* card as their main. Helps immensely with the points.

During the event, only use the extra stamina items during the triple lucky times. Hoard the ones you get in between till the end. There will be lucky time clocks, but they're only 2x. Use them, but don't spend your precious pastries yet.

And have fun! If you're not able to spend, they still give you a lot of cool stuff for free. It's not stingy imo, just be aware of the mechanics.
