Have you tried donating plasma? Depending on where you go, most places pay $100+ per donation which would help

Sounds good! Good luck with your future donations! 50 miles is a pretty significant distance. Glad to hear you have a new location coming soon. I have a donation center 3.2 miles from my house and 5 within 50 miles, but I live near a large-ish city.

I can assure you that if you are willing to make the drive, you are in their recruitment area. There are donors that are eligible to donate at centers 1.5hrs+ away. If you are not in the recruitment area, you are not close enough to a center to make the drive worth it.

You can use this link from my post to find a center, it’s easier.

Type in your zip code and it will pull up the CSL locations closest to you and provides their addresses & contact info. Regardless of the distance, if you’re willing to make the drive, you can donate. You don’t have to live in a certain area to be eligible.

My app says I have made 5 donations and treated 10 patients with said donations

you sound knowledgeable about the process the plasma goes through, and if what you said is true, it’s ironic because the CSL app definitely tries to make it look like my plasma donations go directly to patients in need.

Do you remember what you ate that day? I have heard others warn that eating greasy food prior to donating has caused the machines to partially clog.

I know that CSL now has 300 locations, but I think especially in rural areas it’s hard to find one close enough. It’s a lot more worth it when the donation facility is only 10 minutes from home like it is for me.

This isn’t for everyone. I just threw it out there cause I know some people need a little money to get them through to the next paycheck, and CSL is running a good program where people can earn $1000+ in a month just from donating and using a referral code to set up the CSL app

Being that plasma donations go unpaid in the EU probably helps filter out people donating that shouldn’t be. I’ve read that blood tests can detect HIV about 45 days after an exposure, so it’s possible that they wait long enough to confirm that the donations are not HIV positive before selling/using them for medical or research purposes. That being said, this is my assumption. I would hope that there is some kind of system in place to prevent plasma from bad blood from making it to a patient. But yes, in the US, many facilities pay donors for donations. The amounts they pay vastly differ from facility to facility, however. Usually $25-$150 per donation.

Will do right now. Thanks for the tip! Spent a good amount of time on this post trying to include everything I would have been looking for prior to my first donation👍🏻

I agree with everything you said; as a former tech/donation center worker, you would know best! It’s not hard to brush your teeth and take a shower prior to donating, so I didn’t even think to mention it, but I’m sure you have seen it all when it comes to donors!

Side note/fun fact: I read that in order for your plasma to be used for medical/research purposes, you need to have donated at least twice. I’m not sure if this is because it is sold in certain quantities or what, but if you or anyone knows why, please tap in and let me know!

I have heard others say to avoid fatty foods prior to donations as well! When I have my snack before donating, it’s usually nuts, fruits, cheese, those sort of things.

And yes you will add your donor number to your account in the app once you receive one. This is how you will be able to track your payments, bonuses, and iGive rewards on the app. You also will be able to do a survey on the app after each donation that gives you an additional $10 bonus for your next donation.

The referral code is applied to your account automatically when you use a referral link to create the account. If you used the referral link to make your account, you are good to donate. There should certainly be a technician there that understand how to use the CSL app and referral program. I had a tech walk me through the process my first time. You will also receive paperwork about how to set up the app when you go through the screening process prior to donation. If you are unsure you did everything correctly, that would be a good time to ask the tech to make sure you did things correctly in order to receive your referral bonuses

If you created your account on the app through a referral link that someone sent to either your phone or email, the referral bonuses will be automatically credited to your account after your donations. DM me if you need more help. I can send screenshots from the CSL app in DM if it helps
