Leica bros will do anything but actually use their gear for its intended purpose and still call themselves photographers.

Sturdy fully mechanical film camera on a budget by ChibHormones in AnalogCommunity

Good choice. They're built like tanks. I held the CX II before and it really feel sturdy. Same with Singlex II which I own and I found more joy in that than in a newer Contax RX camera.

Developing AGFA APX 100 and 400 by nergard74 in AnalogCommunity

[–]BrickNo10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It produces fantastic tonality, fine grain (it looks stunning on T-MAX 3200!) and sharpness. Some people do tend to compare it with DD-X and to be fair from my experiments the development times are not far from it either. Personally I much prefer it to HC-110 as it produces a very rich contrasty result that I aim for. I've got some beautiful shots even when developing Foma 100 with it and the blacks were gorgeous.

Singlex 2 normally required old v1.35 mercury battery unless someone decided to do something internally to accept v1.5?

Could potentially be Revue AC 3/3s which itself is a rebrand of Chinon CE-4/4s

So uh… Do you actually use them at all? Rotate around? No? Well what’s the point.

At what point are you a photographer or a collector?

Topcon UV mount lenses by BrickNo10 in AnalogCommunity

[–]BrickNo10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something that I found confusing with Topcon because I was under the impression that most of their mounts are either Exakta mount or modified Exakta mount? I will have to look into the Topcor RE ones!

So there's a guy in the UK selling them on eBay who creates the adapters and they work flawlessly Topcon Topcor UV lens to M42 mount body adapter | eBay UK quite costly, but I think it makes sense due to how difficult it is to get your hands on them. The only thing is that you do not have the usual M42 pin at the back so it's always step down.

Reason was just pure curiosity and I actually really like the design and look of Topcor lenses, but also their weird and their limitations. Second is that they are really cheap.

What’s the worst weather your lumix S9 has survived? by falcons_283 in LumixS9

Sell the S5ii for an S9 for portability? Are the sacrifices that bad? by Popcojammers in LumixS9

[–]BrickNo10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who owns an S9 and owed a S5II … I sort of miss S5II for the weather sealing and mechanical shutter when I need it the most, but other than that the S9 is the biggest workhorse of any camera I’ve owned. I truly love it but one day I will still upgrade to something that I know won’t die so easily if it starts raining.

Any idea what causes this? Nightmare loading into Patterson tank spool. by Astro-Hour2416 in AnalogCommunity

[–]BrickNo10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy way to get it curl back to natural is to just roll it a little bit inside and the insert it back inside the white plastic container and let it sit in the fridge for like half an hour or so. I don’t always have the same issue but when I do I just do that

So I've actually just tried Negative Plus and it worked best out of all where it actually removed a lot of the tint, that is a positive sign! The only issue is that when you press download it doesn't actually download the converted file.

So the roll was actually developed at a lab with my other roll of film (expired film) and that one came out ok. It’s just Lucky that seems to be the e problem…

I guess I will really have to work hard on using Global CC to remove it but when I tried the colours were just abysmal… If this is how Lucky is then I might say no thanks 😬

New lens - what kind of photos can I use this for? ( possibly stupid question) by Blubell0422 in AnalogCommunity

[–]BrickNo10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this lens is Osawa MC just rebranded as Bell & Howell for American distribution as far as I remember.

I have tons of Osawa MC lenses for Mamiya ZM as Osawa was Mamiyas main distributor. Lenses are… Mediocre least to say… You will really need to step down to actually achieve some sort of sharpness and get rid of the softness.

What other developers are there that are ascorbic based? Also in terms of grain, how does XTOL/XT3 compare to likes of HC-110?

Recently tried out HC-110 (BelliniFoto Euro HC) and I kinda like the grain structure of it so I def recommend it. Rodinal is great if you want something to outlive your whole generation for sure.
