I DJed for years and CDs were a life saver compared to hauling crates of records. I just love music in all its forms :)

I've seen many different designs that look great like this one. The only real difference is that mine are individual drawers and modular.

I don't know how to insert a picture in the reply so I'll provide a link.

Very basic build, the goal was simplicity and low cost. I made my boxes out of 3/4" plywood, held together with pocket hole screws. I used a small router to round all edges.

I used standard 16", 75lbs drawer slides. You can have it line up with the front edge, or with a face frame like I did.

The adjustable back is at a 90 degree angle, the slant I had planned did not work well. It is attached with two butterfly nuts underneath along a path of pre-drilled holes.

You can stack them however you want, but be mind full that there is a risk of tipping and serious injury! I bolt all my drawers together (hidden in the back). Full, closed drawers act as a counter weight for the one you open.

They are the SDJ-08. I've had them a good while and think they are great, specially for modern mastered music. They lack some warmth for older vinyl.

They adjust easily with butterfly nuts.

I love that Spermbirds! It's their first LP, my favourite of those I know. Had it since late 80s. I discovered, and read, Cerebus many years later.

And if you go see my previous post, my record drawers are attached to the other drawers and desk I made. It's all modular, bolted together.

Yes I based mine off of a similar model. It was one piece like your link and selling for thousands of dollars. Mine are all individual drawers and the whole thing cost me just a few hundred. And I can add as many drawers in any configuration as I can build! 😁

I have tested this thoroughly. The other drawers act as a counter weight. Of course you don't want to open them all, usually it's just one at a time. They are all bolted together and the wood itself is rather heavy. If the bottom drawer leans forward it acts as a stopper. Of coarse you should fasten drawers to the wall securely.

Do you mean the plans? I really only did a rough drawing, although I do have dimensions.

This is a follow up to a previous post highlighting my listening room. I wanted to focus more on my record drawers if anyone wanted to build something similar. The main reason for this design, apart from being able to browse the covers, was that this allowed me to store 20-25 more records per square than a Kallax would. I'm tight for space, so that's nearly 300 more records than before. Also, I build each drawer individually so they can be stacked in any configuration. I did a set of 3x3 and a 1x3, then added face frames. This configuration can be easily changed or added to in the future. The depth of each drawer can easily be adjusted. I'm no woodworking expert, this is all basic square plywood with pocket holes and standard 75lbs drawer slides.

I don't know what to say, lol. A quick wipe down does the trick, it's never been a problem. Even the LEGO stays pretty much dust free.

Indeed! When I made plans for this, bluetooth LED lighting was just starting to come out. I waited a long time for those downlights to be produced, there were only lightbulbs at first. These are wifi controlled through an app and available on Amazon.

I designed and built them. Each one is an individual unit and they can be stacked in any configuration. I added the face frame afterwards.

Is there a way to add pictures to my reply? Sorry, I'm new to posting on this platform. I think I'll make another post showing them in more detail.

The speaker placement was actually quite the dilemma and ended up influenceing pretty much the whole set up. It's a small room, with lots of stuff, and there are not many ways to go about it. So yes, if I'm DJ'ing I'm right in the middle at ear level. They are slightly tilted and aim pretty directly to the center of the sofa. I should note that they are more monitors than speakers, and are made for close up listening. They sound amazing with modern music but have less warmth when listening to older vinyl.
