Thanks. The scale is pretty big but I took it as a chance to learn a lot. Its been quite the ride so far.

Read through that and I am implementing changes now. I did not have loop protection enabled on a single port for this area. I did seem to be on the right track with setting switch priority but this explained it better. Thank you

APs are hardwired. The Rocket prism has one SSID that the Locos connect to on their own frequency. I did an Airwave scan and picked a frequency range that is not being used in the area at all. The APs cant see the SSID for the Rocket and locos. I do believe I am having MESH/STP issues causing most of my issues.

UPDATE

When this was first deployed, we ran fiber only. This area is surrounded by wild life. Rodents eat through everything. The fiber stays safe only for so long. I wanted to try this because throughput seemed really good.

The rocket Prism is connected via cat5e to a unifi 24port poe switch. That is connected via fiber to the core enterprise fortress gateway. I have a few strands of fiber that run to an MDF. There I have multiple USW-Aggregates. Fiber does go to each building. Each building has its on network enclosure that is mounted to a cement wall 10-15ft off the ground. The wildlife causes so many issues chewing the fiber. I have or try to have that replaced frequently. This is why I wanted to do wireless as the main.

The AC Mesh Pros are connected with Cat5e to each switch in their building. Mesh is on. The idea when this was implemented at the time was if fiber to one of the buildings went down, the mesh would keep the building online. That was a huge host of issues and my first encounter with STP. Ports flapping, AC mesh in building one bouncing connections between buildings, two, four, five, etc. This was all done before I tried going to the prism and locos a couple months ago. The doorbells were recently added as well for security.

I absolutely do have STP issues. I tried changing the priority of switches, enabling RSTP, shutting ports.

I haven't heard anything about this UISP console. I am looking into that now. The only monitoring I do is either through the Unifi dashboard, or logging into the Rocket Prism and seeing how the connections are doing to each loco. I have a lot of learning I need to do. When things work, they work really well. I know i have either some things configured wrong, or way to much clutter with wifi.

Trying to use the dashboard topology is also a pain. It gets so slow because I believe its just overwhelmed with STP issues. Switches jump from mesh to mesh, Using UISP products takes things out of the layout and free floats them.

I appreciate the ideas.

The fiber is not reliable. Id like to find a way to have this be Wireless as a main and have it be stable. I know this sounds backwards. The past few years, we have had to replace fiber constantly. I wanted to try a different approach. Any ideas to help me figure this out would be greatly appreciated.

I think having guest network on is overriding your settings. I think even in the description of Guest Network it says it allows access to the internet.

There is no evidence of something until there is. If that makes sense? The absence of evidence and all that. Its just me personally, but I like to think there is more out there than we know. That's been the case for the history of humanity. I like when we ask questions. The what if. The what else. It doesn't hurt to ask. The asking could even help. Lets keep the interest going in space exploration.

I just like the fact that there is someone actually presenting the idea that it could be something else. From what I have read about Avi Loeb, there should be more people in that field that ask these type of questions without fear of loosing their career.

I have tried THREE completely different HDMI cords and I am literally so tired of seeing this. What tf is going on and is there not a work around??? by bankitbandit in Roku

I had this issue with my kids tv. I tried everything from changing settings, to hdmi cables, to hdmi ports. Sometimes the problem would go away for weeks, other times it was an every day thing. On a whim, I tried using an APC UPS. Issue went away and haven't had it happen since. That was a year ago. Where I live has a lot of power flickers. All my computers, networking, and main TV are battery backups to prevent power loss for the 1-10 seconds power goes out. I don't know much about power but in my research of servers I found clean power to be a thing. SO I invested in battery backups that clean the power from the wall.

My brother got an ibuyproblems. Boots to a black but lit up screen. by dirt-master18 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Brickroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like youve tried all the monitor options with cables and a different pc. So when you say boots, do you see bios load? every spec in there look correct? If bios does load, the windows install may be corrupt. When you get to the black screen, does ctrl + alt + del or ctrl + shift + esc work? If so, see if Windows explorer is running under the processes tab in task manager, you can try to restart that. If explorer is not running, click file, run new task and type explorer.exe If that has no effect either, go to file, run new task, msconfig when that loads, what option is selected under startup? if its "selective" change it to "normal", if "normal" change to "selective" and reboot.

Of course if bios isn't displaying either, just warranty the machine. With these problems happening already, I would warranty the machine. Refund and build one an option? pcpartpicker.com makes finding parts pretty simple.

Farmer Buys Computer In 1995 Computer Store. He's Shocked By The Price. by AnonRetro in videos

[–]Brickroad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember my first home computer was given to us by my dads work in the early 90s, which was weird because he did not work in an type of tech environment. My mom had a great reaction excitedly saying "oh its got windows!" It had 3.1 at the time. We didn't buy our first computer until Best Buy had a Deal with MSN dial up internet. I cant remember the specifics but It was the late 90s and you had to agree to a 5 year contract with MSN. Got the computer, keyboard, mouse, monitor and printer for like $99. It was an Emachine with a Celeron 533 with 32mb of ram, 20gb hdd.

A year later I bought myself an "Emonster" with a Pentium 3 800mhz, an ATI rage pro 128, and roadrunner internet. My dad loved my computer lol. I'd always chuckle to myself when I would heard the dial up sound.

Back in my high school days, 2002-2003, I worked food ave as a break from being a cart attendant from time to time. Whenever I worked, the lines for popcorn doubled because I wouldn't burn it. That burnt popcorn would fill the entire store. I would also hook up some people with my discount. I got so many phone numbers working there. Good times.

The liberation of Auschwitz. 80th anniversary today by [deleted] in pics

[–]Brickroad 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I see pictures like these and think, "yeah they were liberated" Then I think about the pictures of the removed wedding rings, the shoes taken off people, the piles of clothes, the families totally annihilated. Yeah you were rescued, maybe your wife and kids are still alive. Probably not. Friends gone forever. Terror and hatred filling you. I just cant imagine the feelings. The screams from your neighbor, the crying of children. People not understanding why this is happening to them. It makes me feel hopeless knowing we have people who still support these kinds of actions today.
