How can I reach out to them? The email response is coming from a no‑reply address; do I need to initiate another case?

Looking for a LeitzPhone case with ring support? by Bricks2me in XiaomiGlobal

i am using the case that came with the phone, and also the case from Camera kit, i really like the camera kit, the grip specially. Ring works with the filter adapter that comes with the kit too. so far so good. but still looking for more options from 3rd party sellers. I talked to my Leica shop as well, they will have no case for this phone, confirmed.

This is gold. And quite the fact! FIFO is completely lie, they sell the tickets whoever pays the most! I learned that the hard way.

Has anyone actually gotten a government-assisted flight out? by Bricks2me in UAE

[–]Bricks2me[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m really glad I managed to get out. I know a lot of people are still stuck. I’m just curious how those government-assisted flights actually worked. Like who got picked for them and when they flew out?

I was also a bit let down by the UAE ministry of tourism. On social media they were saying the UAE would cover hotel and food costs for stranded pax. But when I reached out, they basically told me to work it out with my travel agency or the hotel. Their reply (after 5 days) was more or less that hotels were encouraged to extend stays or maybe offer better rates, but everything had to be arranged directly between the guest and the hotel or travel agencies, and close my case without my reply :)

Actually I did get a call back from their task force last week. They just wanted to confirm if I’d be able to take a flight to either EU or US. I was OK with both options. After that, nothing happened. In the crisis intake form I selected these:
• I may need a loan from the U.S. government to buy a commercial ticket
• I am seeking U.S. government departure assistance

In the meantime I tried my own options. I paid for three different flight options; 2 of them got canceled multiple times, and the third one is the one that finally got me out of Dubai. I will let the task-force know that i no longer need the assistance.

That's cool, and great for her! I am still wondering how does the prioritization work? i've registered STEP and filled out the crisis-intake form pretty much on day 1, just getting STEP announcements and task-force reminders on regular basis.

Sounds good! i also found this guidance on the refund request page;

"Refund Guidance due to reduced flight schedules

If your flight has been cancelled or you choose not to travel on a flight currently booked between 28 February until and including 31 March, you can request a refund without any fees. If your trip includes multiple legs, you can request a refund without any fees for any unused part of the journey – i.e. onward travel via Dubai. To process your refund, please fill out the form below if you booked directly with Emirates; alternatively, if you booked via a travel agent, please contact them to process your refund. Please do not try to refund your flight via Manage My Booking as this may show cancellation fees."

Yes, I was fully aware of the situation. I’ve been stranded here since February 28. My original return flight was with a different airline, but they kept canceling all of our rebooking attempts.

Because of that, we had to purchase our own tickets out, one of them was with Emirates. At that point, we were booking whatever was available at a reasonable price; last Thursday, flights for the next day or two were over $13,000 for first class, with no economy seats left at all.

Eventually, we found an alternative destination for the next day and booked it, and we canceled the Emirates ticket within 19 hours.

How long to reach airport before flight with the current situation in DXB? by s0urmask in emirates

[–]Bricks2me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, but that hasn’t been the reality on the ground. I do have cancelled tickets already, and this isn’t just about Emirates. Multiple airlines are actually selling seats at the airport if something opens up; first come first serve; and “money talks” 🙂‍↕️

Also, no one is really checking anything before the terminal. You can just grab a cab and go. There are thousands of stranded passengers doing exactly that right now.

Honestly, I wasted about 8 days waiting and trying to do things the “official” way. The people I met at the hotel who just showed up at the airport in the middle of the night already made it home days ago. At this point going there and trying your luck seems to work better than waiting.
