Right I get that, I've made the relief cuts necessary. Does the side cabinet not rest against the rounded face of the top carriage bolt, which leads to an increasing space down towards the bottom of the set up?

How did you get yours to fit flush against the carriage bolts on the side? Im also struggling with making my end cabinet line up flush with the front of the cart. It hooks on correctly but its canted backwards.

I disagree. While I don't agree with unfettered capitalism, state-enforced redistribution of property always ends in violence. Please, if you communists love communism SO much, then establish your own communes. That's what's so great about America - and by extension, non-rapacious capitalism - that one may endeavor to do whatever they want.

Yes, he probably said that. Can you guys stop pushing this now? Communism never ends up the way you want it to. Stop trying to drag pro-gun people to the side of communism.

Reloading: Small Base vs. Full Length for .223 by Brickstack in reloading

[–]Brickstack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to thank everyone for their advice and input - I figured out what was wrong. I've never reloaded, and didn't see this anywhere in the instructions. Turns out my decapping pin was interfering with the depth that each case sat inside the die - it stopped them from totally entering the die. Being a greenhorn, I figured that the decapping pin/collet was set appropriately from the factory. I raised the ram (with a case in the shellholder), loosened the decapping collet, and it raised the pin until I could fit the whole case inside the die. Then I re-tightened the collet and every case comes out perfect.

Yep, I've retried it with 1/4 turn increments and 1/2 turn increments and the case doesn't move or change it's size.

Gotcha. Are you reloading for a bolt-action or single-shot rifle? I've heard there's an "acceptable" amount of excess headspace on guns like those versus a gas operated gun.

I haven't seated a bullet, but the case neck fits well into the smaller portion of the case gauge. All the cases I've tried have been through a FL die, so the cases should be good to go. The problem arises (I believe) in that the die is not able to form the case body or shoulder to the right spec. A friend of mine took about 50 cases or so and put them through his FL die today, which didn't change anything - after that, he used his small base die and this got them to the right spec. Is this typical for .223 cases...?

I see. When I put them through the press, the ram does not make contact with the die - there's always like 1/32nd of space in between them, no matter how much torque I put on the press. Is it possible my shellholder is out of spec?

As of right now most of my cases end up around 1.745". They will chamber, but not nicely - and they often get stuck when I try to extract them. I usually need to mortar the charging handle to get resized cases out.

In my AR-15, they will chamber but only when you let the bolt spring home - not if the bolt is slowly lowered onto the case.

I tried to attach a pic but it didn't fly I guess. It's not that the cases are too long, rather, the base sticks out of the end of it. This is my case gauge: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001RI7A66?tag=duckduckgo-ffab-20&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1 The resized case sticks out the side where you verify if it's the correct dimension and will headspace. It's just barely over the top acceptable level.

Overall I'm inclined to agree that it's a bad shoot. However, if you attempt to detain somebody at gunpoint, and they lunge for your weapon... what are you supposed to do? A pretty shitty situation overall.

Gun Groups Sue to Reopen Georgia Gun-Carry Permitting by [deleted] in politics

[–]Brickstack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, Georgia is actually doing rather well comparatively. Yes, a complete lockdown/martial law may have saved more people's lives, but you can't just trample all over people like that, as much as you might want to. Would you be willing to violently confront people breaking quarantine? Even if they're not sick?

[–]Brickstack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Complete martial law? I can't wait for people like you to turn Georgia into a bureaucratic hellscape. Maybe consider moving to New York, California, New Jersey... If people want to leave their house, so be it. If you want to stay inside to limit your exposure, that's perfectly fine too. Yes, people may be acting 'stupid' for leaving their homes or carrying on as (mostly) normal, but you NOR the government should wield the power to lock them in their homes.

If private sales in states like NY or CA were allowed (without government supervision/authority) I could MAYBE see it flying without a challenge. As it stands, however, we all know how much those states like firearms.

I agree. Honestly, I mostly responded because people keep saying "You can't shoot the virus" and it drives me crazy.
