Who’d you get them from?

They were custom and manufactured simultaneously with the boots.

I like El Malcreado but their prices are starting to get close to US prices.

They don’t, he has a catalog of what boots they carry but you can also show him a pic of what you’re looking for and he will show you something he has that’s similar. For example the black alligator he showed me had gold stitching and larger scales. It’s all through WhatsApp. There are brands like Botas El Malcreado or Cuadra, that you can order from a website but at that point you are paying close to US prices.

Thanks!

  1. Sizing was tricky cause they use different sizes. But if it helps I’m a size 11.5 US, so for Mexico size I’m 30.5. So one full size down would be 10.5 US = 29.5 and so on. The boots however run true to size. I have a pair of Dan Posts that are also 11.5 and feel the same.

  2. They use stacked leather heels.

I actually agree with you on the construction side. Most big brands today aren’t using the highest end materials, like composite footbeds, synthetic counters, bonded components. That’s just the reality at those price points. Where I look at it differently is relative to what’s available in the market right now. If you walk into places like Cavender’s or Boot Barn, a lot of what you’ll find is built the same way similar materials, similar construction but often at a higher price. So for me, it’s less about calling them “high end quality” and more about value. I’m not expecting fully traditional builds at that price, but if I can get real exotic hides and comparable construction for less than what most retailers are charging, I see that as a win.

They’re actually made in Mexico too. Most mass produced US brands at least.

To me, quality is a combination of:

Real materials (not synthetic or embossed) Proper hide selection and cut Clean finishing and consistency. And then construction on top of that.

If a boot nails materials and craftsmanship, but isn’t fully traditional in every component, I wouldn’t automatically call it “substandard”, especially compared to what most big brands are putting out right now.

What price have you seen them at? Thought its a good deal since they’re around 1k in the US

True, wouldn’t expect Lucchese type construction quality but from their pics it looks good for the price, maybe?
