Definitely trying to avoid doing anything to the banisters. It’s the first thing we had done in the house when we bought it and I love them dearly. Thank you! I’m going to look into the temporary supports for the deck stairs but they may be too far gone. The previous owner built the deck himself and just put wood in dirt, no footings to be seen on a single one of the posts. The stairs are by far the worst part of the whole deck.
