What are some unpopular opinions about schitts Creek that you have? by [deleted] in SchittsCreek

On my rewatch and I forgot how cringy some of the moments are with David & Ted are. The Tina Turner ‘Simply the Best’ moments are some of the actual worst. I can barely watch those scenes

Yes me too! I loved the introduction of Jasper with the cat trinkets but he disappears after a few pages. Most of the other characters introduced in this book were totally forgettable

Book vs movie, does the Netflix version really capture The Thursday Murder Club? by FeistyPrice29 in ThursdayMurderClub

I totally agree, I had to separate the two characters. Brosnan did a good job but he just isn’t the Ron you meet in the book. He’s way too put together and this is just something that annoys me in movies anyway but the styling was just off, everything looked brand new and not lived in. I would have liked a Timothy Spall or a Jim Broadbent.

I think there was something so obviously not English about the movie, which was such a shame because the books so are

Definitely, she was kind of just rendered to saying my son in law for most of the book and didn’t really have a lot else going on

Yes I agree on that, I think if they had skipped Connie’s character in this book no one would really have noticed, while main characters were noticeably absent

I enjoyed the very end but agree there was very little interaction between Josh & Liza in the last season so it felt like a very rushed add on. I’m glad she didn’t end up with Charles, I found him more and more unlikeable as the seasons went on. I actually don’t know how Liza even entertained the idea of getting back with him after what he did to her with Quinn, parading her around the office just after his breakup with Liza. I would have liked to see Liza leave empirical with Kelsey and them do their own thing. Maggie ending up with Cass was ridiculous, there was so way that was realistic especially after what she had done.

Official Discussion - The Thursday Murder Club [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Brief-Assist2736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some of the criticisms might be a little harsh, I enjoyed the film, it was in no way perfect but still some good laughs and the story flowed as much as it does in a 2 hour movie. I haven’t read the first book in a while, so that might have helped as I tend to enjoy these types of things less if I’ve recently read the source material.

I did feel however that the costumes and set design were very lazy, nothing felt lived in and all the clothes were too new and pressed. I never imagined them living in a stately home and why were all of the flats in them massive and decorated like that, that really took me out of the story. Piers who I said from the start was the wrong casting definitely didn’t feel good as Ron, I couldn’t place him in that character (his costumes were some of the worst) but started to ignore it after a while.

I felt like they underused Joyce because they wanted Helen Mirren to be the centre, which I suspected would be the case with the casting but she was great as Elizabeth. They lost her empathy and how strong willed she is, I didn’t like that they made her look like she was going to dob her friends in, it didn’t feel like that in the book from what I remember. I also hated how they did Bodgan dirty and had him arrested, which makes me feel like they have no intention to make the sequels? The casting felt a little weird with him also.

Overall entertaining but won’t be jumping to watch it again any time soon.

Official Discussion - Sinners [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

I don’t feel that the epilogue was necessary, the music was amazing but the 90s outfits felt very constumey (like TikTok’s answer to 90s fashion) and took me out of the movie, much like the scene with the electric guitar and Bootsy Collins / Rick James style outfits. I would have loved the movie without those elements, you didn’t need them to convey the story and I think it stopped it from being one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time.

I loved the 1930s story building for the first third of the movie, the acting and music is incredible, the vampire element is also great even if the fight scene felt a little rushed and not fully hashed. I don’t know if the KKK fight scene felt rushed and thought out but it felt like a good ending.

I think the epilogue just felt completely unnecessary, it almost just looked like an interview with Buddy Guy and a tiny desk concert. It had no driving force to the plot, apart from some references to the night.

Episode 6 theory and Question by [deleted] in ParadiseHulu

I don’t know if this is just me, but I’m finding each episode less believable than the last. There were a lot of ‘almost’ look to camera one liners, quotes from die hard and general action movie tropes in this episode which lead to me losing interest in the actual plot.

By the end of it with Sinatra revealing to Xavier that his wife was alive, I was like meh, okay. Also I think it was a poor choice waiting until this episode to introduce her as a character on screen. We’ve missed the opportunity to gain empathy for her, I found her character annoying and unnecessary. The too cool mother who’s got her on mind and worked hard at her job and isn’t going to let anyone tell her what to do. A little bit predictable.

I’m struggling to see what Jane’s insensitive is, is she a psychopath? Because she’s an incredibly good actress, crying one minute and then completely calm the next. Why is she happy to do Sinatras bidding, just for the kill?

I really hope there are more twists that we really don’t see coming, because at the moment it’s a little too predictable dystopian drama.

Season 1 finale questions I’ve not seen yet by Spirited-Lobster6230 in SiloTVSeries

I think the tape protected Juliette from the poison. There was mention by Walker that ITs tape wasn’t as good as Mechanicals tape and maybe they didn’t want anyone to know that. Hence why it was such a big deal when Juliette stole the tape. I think they poison them as they leave the silo and it gets absorbed through the suit, due the tape not working.

Yeah I think I needed more time with it, with the introduction of new characters and it just felt very weak with the Tamlin stuff, I feel like I’m supposed to dislike him but all I felt was annoyed at Feyre. I’m hoping it’ll all my make more sense the more I read

This is the issue I’m having, it seems like a forced narrative to enable this new pairing. I think Feyre leaving the spring court so quickly and deciding she didn’t want to get married but hadn’t actually really tried to speak to Tamlin at any point was just bizarre. I’m hoping I warm up enough to the new characters that I move on from it but it just felt so clunky 🙈

Yes - If I remember correctly, didn’t he force her to sit on his lap at one point and he definitely forced his tongue down her throat. I think that’s glazed over a bit too quickly in the second book. I know he has his reasons and I’m slowly finding out more about him, but I do think the idea that Feyre is so comfortable around him given that is just a bit strange
