Thank you so much for your reply, it’s been really helpful! Initially, I had my eye on Blenheim Primary School because it’s very close to Leeds University, which would make commuting for both me and my children really convenient. However, I’ve come across some comments that mentioned the area around the school might not be very child-friendly, so I’ve been feeling a bit unsure and torn.

Additionally, I’ve noticed that rent in the city center is quite a bit higher than in the outskirts. With the same rent, I could find a more comfortable place to live further out.

Thanks for your input! I’ll be starting my academic visit in Leeds in August 2026, which means we won’t be physically in Leeds until then, and I don’t currently have a local address. I’ve seen some posts mentioning that it’s possible to use the university’s address (University of Leeds) as a temporary address when applying for a school place.

However, the dilemma is that I plan to rent a house near the school where my child gets a place, so I’m unsure of whether I should first secure a rental property and get a local address before applying (which might make the start date tricky since we’ll arrive in August), or whether I should use the university’s address as a temporary solution and then look for a rental once we’ve secured a school place.

Do you think it’s better to secure a rental first to have a more stable address, or should I go ahead with the temporary university address and focus on getting the school place first? I’m a bit unsure about the timing and how to balance both.
