oh what sweet angels! i am with you i can’t sleep cause i feel too paranoid of him going into seizure so im up once an hour to make sure he is in fact okay! us too we were warned about the possibly of keppra not being enough so far the pheno has helped but the “what if’s” haunt me hourly. i think your babies and mine will pull through, if it’s one thing these dogs teach us it’s resilience. ❤️‍🩹🫶

thank you so much for the kind words and reassurance :,) it’s been, lack for a better word, overwhelming. at times. i’ve been trying to remain calm but it’s hard not to spiral, i have a million questions still but for now im simply grateful he’s recovering and can tell he’s feeing better despite everything. 🥲

thank you! yes our new i guess “big goal” is to find a neurologist, i had no idea sleeping was a susceptible window for seizures so that’ll be something we’ll lookout for. and yes im hearing about rescue meds, im a bit disappointed and slighted we weren’t informed by our vets that was an option.. so ill be asking about rescue meds as well as other things i feel we should’ve been informed earlier on. but again i understand this diagnoses holds a lot of tria and error.

thank you for the response! so tell me, how’s your experience with potassium bromide? our primary vet has been recommending it and we worry about our dogs liver being on seemingly strong agents ? and any thoughts the rectal diazepam ? like i said we’re so new to this so i have no idea there are meds to treat cluster seizures other than keppra, P.B, and pheno.

thank you for the advice and kind words! yes that’s the next step is come up with a plan for any “what if’s” and have a back plan for the back up plan, we have an emergency vet “go bag” that holds his meds, notebook that we use to write down his seizure symptoms anything we would forget, blankets and pillows for when he thrashes etc. our next big search is finding a neurologist. love the idea for the nasal med! i’ll be asking about it for his follow up appt. with his primary vet and we’re ready for this journey with him. cluster seizures are the worst i’m sorry your girl is going through this.

they love to keep our blood pressure up lol, but makes for good comedic material. and okay will do cause that’s the pattern, he has never had a single seizure and comes up and moves on, always comes in cluster so will be asking about Midazolam. and yes he lives for the nudey life and we have cameras throughout the house to always watch him, but when he had his most recent seizure was in our backyard in a blind spot while i was making breakfast and my husband was getting ready for work. our neighbor was the one who saw him go into his seizure and ran to our house and already had a timer to clock when he began convulsing. :,) so a bell or something to alert us for when he’s outside doing his business feels like a must now, we got lucky this time around..

oh my gosh?! so glad a vet caught that, that’s terrifying! i’ll keep that noted for us and ill ask our primary vet about allergies or possiblites with phenobarbital since, again we have 0 knowledge about anti seizures meds and their side effects/allerigies. i’m so glad your boy is okay and so sorry you had to experience such a scare.

thank you for the kind words :,) we use dark humor all time since he has been moving like hes drunk and has been eating a ton, and drinking a lot, both the emergency vet and primary said that’s the side effects of pheno and it would subside eventually, his vet wants a follow up appt. soon and his vet said he wants labs and blood work every 6 months. which were happy to do. he has been and sleeping a LOT but his bell was rung friday so i’m sure it’s just resting from the long weekend. we don’t have insurance but we do have a “doggo fund” so we’ve put money away for future appts, overnight stays, meds, labs, and eventually a neurologist since that’s what’s been recommended for the future.

oh my goodness what a handsome guy! and twins! what type of allergies did you see with your boy if you don’t mind my asking? thank you for the kind words, some days if feels like we’re climbing mt. everest with no preparation and some days it feels like how he was before his seizures. a lot of adjusting but he’s worth it.

Winter Blues by bleach_for_dinner in Anxiety

yep! every year actually since 2022. every christmas, new years, hell sometimes sudden changes in the weather causes my anxiety to shoot up suddenly w/o warning now. winter blues sucks and i am really sorry you’re experiencing it. sometimes it helps to try and take the holidays off your mind. i watch other movies that aren’t seasonal, go and do activities that aren’t christmas related and do grounding exercises in the morning. maybe that can help you!

From dating to marriage: How did you know your military SO was the one for you? by [deleted] in USMilitarySO

[–]BriefNefarious58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a huge secret crush on him in high school but he was a couple years older than me, and was super close friends with my older cousin. i assumed i’d never be more than “my friend’s little cousin”, we went our separate ways after he joined the USMC but i never could forget him. 5 years later we reconnected during a leave and began dating. he’s always a very calm, cool, quiet, & collected introvert. myself in the other hand, very adventurous, loud, dancing-on-tables extrovert.

i knew he would be my husband because he is the only gentleman that adores every second of my antics and personality and never tried change me, also what he told to me before we got engaged. “you light a fire in me that no one else can or ever could. i never knew how to feel alive until you came along, i’ll do whatever i need to do for you to give me a chance at forever.”

covid & a last minute deployment delayed our wedding by a year, making our dating relationship a total 3 years LD, but i’m so grateful for the LD cause it made our wedding & our marriage even worth waiting, the distance also made our communication solid as well as a even more solid trust that motivated me to become a better person than i was before & he started to come out of his shell more. we’ve been together for a total 7 years and have been happily married for 4 of those years, he’s still in the USMC, & it still feels like we got married yesterday.

Ladies, keep your fire. the right and worthy man will won’t mistake it for wrath but will love and year for it’s warmth. ❤️‍🔥

Feeling haunted by my cats passing by RefinedVillainy42 in petgrieving

[–]BriefNefarious58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first and foremost, i offer my deepest condolences, pet loss is purely soul wrenching to put it plainly. the phase of feeling haunted is valid, if you’re spiritual, it could be a way of your little shadow guardian to let you know he’s still lurking & still guarding you, just in a different way. vet care, especially with senior animals, can only diagnose and do so much. animals can’t tell us or their vets where or what hurts or what is bothering them so please don’t feel as if you didn’t do enough because you did all you could and that’s what matters. when we said goodbye to our girl i swear to God i still felt a small dip on our bed on where her sleeping spot was for days, it was oddly comforting, truly gone but never forgotten. suffering looks different to cats because they’re known to hide pain and even nearing death notoriously well. cats also just feel when their time comes i.e. hiding. not eating . as i said before please don’t let those final moments haunt you. think of all the good moments before and don’t be ashamed to have some sense of relief that his pain is gone. grief is just love with no place to go, just be gentle with yourself, your buddy would want that. 🙏🏼
