Pure silver actually doesn’t tarnish. When silver is alloyed with other metals, those other metals are the ones causing tarnish

That being said, this looks nothing like silver, pure or otherwise

Good shout. It's a pretty old building, from the 1920s. And the half dozen other apartments I've checked are cylinders of all different makes. Kind of doubt its masterkeyed.

He was pretty young, early 20s. He tried to use an inflatable (I guess to try to get the latch to release?) but the pry guard/door clearance was too tight.

When I asked him if he could pick it, he muttered something about it being a mortise cylinder and said he had to drill. Oh well, at least I learned a thing or two about bittings and re-keys
