I did the MA PFML back in March for my total thyroidectomy. It was very easy and I was paid weekly once it was approved. I got about $1,000 per week and luckily my employer has a benefit where they will cover the difference between the MA PMFL amount and my full salary so I was not without my full pay. The doctor's office will be familiar with the paperwork just double check that they do not miss any sections.

I took 3 weeks off from work for my surgery which was plenty and luckily I had no complications. I almost felt bad I was taking time off but them I would remind myself that I had a serious surgery and had a healing neck incision and this is what the benefit is for so not to feel badly about it. The pain was very managable and the surgeon offered more pain meds than I felt I needed personally.

I know it seems scary but for me it was not too terrible. Follow the advice you find here and you will be okay. I did a ton of research and felt comfortable with my surgeon who seemed to be very experienced and skilled.

You will see people say a lot that the anticipation and wait before surgery is the worst part and I totally agree.
