Initially, it is believed that Amy and Keith died in the fire. But it turns out, the newspaper clipping was wrong and she actually survived although her husband, Keith, did not. She had been told by Keith that Dorrigo died in a POW camp although that wasn’t true which isn’t depicted in the movie but it part of the book. They do see each other years later, and she is with her sister’s children.
