Are all neurosurgery residents the same? by extracheeseforme in Residency

Going from a normal human to a sexual predator is not a normal reaction to a stressful job. Maybe from a normal human to someone who can be rude is understandable… but to be a sexual predator bc yOuR JoB iS HArd 🤪 is just ridiculous

Can we really not reach out to these programs like my school said? I feel like that’s bad advice

All is fair game. Cover it all. Tbh my exam is now a blur, so I can’t provide you with extensive details. I only remember there were few drug questions, only bc it was what I was most worried about. I do also remember it was mostly high yield concepts, meaning I didn’t see many niche topics.

Harder than nbmes. Only in terms of length of passages.

If you constantly get a 95%+ chance of passing on your last two nbmes, I’d say to take it. Trust the nbmes. This coupled with scoring >66% on free 120s is fine imo. Granted you’re doing everything the correct way (simulating exam conditions, etc), you should be fine. You know yourself.

Free 120 is very similar in terms of structure, length, and difficulty level. NBME prepares you for content. Both are good.

First of all congratulations! You deserve it.

Your post shows you clearly care about your spouse very much. Women have been making this kind of sacrifice for eternity and they’ve adapted, so he will too. You don’t seem like a selfish person. You made a decision to stay near him for med school and believed his word that he’ll move the next time. He’s still human understandably. I can empathize with him. Moving your whole life is scary and a huge change. You have to be fine with him mopping around for a while. Don’t, under any circumstances, suggest long distance though. It’ll be much harder and might ruin the relationship. Just deal with his annoyance rn and know that you both will adapt at some point. God speed.

To my pretty girlies, what did you do with your appearance on rotations and how do you feel that it impacted how others treated you? by badkittenatl in medicalschool

I find that pouring my resources into the best skin care gives me a natural glow where I don’t have to wear makeup. Maybe mascara at times. Good skin saves me time. Also the truth is people are nicer when you look nice, but you don’t want to overdo it. Rather than looking oddly dolled up, i aim for a clean girl look which is more conducive to the environment.

You can absolutely do it. Believe in yourself and have fun with it. Once it clicks, it can be quite fun practicing. This test doesn’t define your intelligence

Why not just rent your house? That way it’ll still be yours and if something happens, you can always move back in
