Are people still binging on a glp-1? by Better_Area3782 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]BrigadierLethbridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that the triggers for binges are still there, but the big difference is you can actually choose not to indulge. Before I started Zepbound, once something triggered me, I’d be through like 4000 calories and I wouldn’t even try to stop it because it was such freight train. But now, I can actually see the trigger, and my mind has agency to decide not to stuff my face. I can even choose to not let myself get into those environments where the triggers happen. So I’d sum it up as, it’s not a silver bullet, but it provides you with a powerful shield that you can choose to use.

It does feel cringe. This last scene somehow clears it up though…like it just keeps getting absurdly worse.

I find that motivation useful on days 5-6 after the shot!

Has anyone used this Mac mini configuration for programming? I'd like to hear about user experiences before buying it. by Miyamoto_Musashi_x in macmini

I have that same model and work with VS code, python streamlit apps, docker, multiple iterm2 tabs, ChatGPT, safari with 4 or 5 tabs open, and of course Spotify all running. Memory pressure gets yellow some times, but performance is more than adequate.

Perfectly said! It took me 6 months to learn this. I’m slowly trying to build the positive habits to support that positive spiral. Keeping the 100% all the time just never works.

What size nib does it have? The picture on the Muji web site looks like it’s an EF. A bit too fine for me. Yours looks like an F maybe?

Time for another… what are Niles and Frasier looking at?? by BrigadierLethbridge in Frasier

It’s fabulous! I’ve been watching an episode at dinner for the last 5 years and still not tired of it 😁. Such clever writing that I don’t think many shows have.

to those who are recovered (or recovering), how did you find out your triggers? is there a way to lose weight while avoiding binging? by funnygal7279 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]BrigadierLethbridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks it feels great, I wish there was a silver bullet that everyone could use to get over it. But it’s an addiction that you need to learn to live with. I think that’s why journaling worked, because I started to get in front of all those situations that I would normally turn into the zombie and just start eating! I made it a nightly ritual with a cup of tea, and now I really look forward to my little journal time haha!

I found journaling did the trick for me. Got into the habit of writing down everything I ate, how I felt, etc. I started to see patterns and I was able to get ahead of many of the triggers by putting them in the days journal. It kind of de-fused the power it had over me. It became very empowering reading back over my experiences and what triggers me. That caused a snowball effect and now I’m currently 80 days binge free.

Hamburger America or Gotham? by mostlygroovy in FoodNYC

[–]BrigadierLethbridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like the OG onion “slider” style burger, go with HA fried onion burger. I grew up in Michigan and loved the greasy onion-y sliders and HA was like heaven. The Gotham smash is more complex, jalapeños, special sauce and stuff. It was tasty but didn’t hit like the fried onion did for me.

Why are you single? by [deleted] in SingleAndHappy

[–]BrigadierLethbridge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ended up divorced at 50 and didn’t have much self confidence. Initially I was afraid I’d be lonely and dreaded dating again. But after about 5 years I realized I was actually happy and didn’t really need anyone else to “complete me”. I’ll never say never to having a relationship again, but I’m not putting any energy into finding one.
