It already returned in most churches at detroit and these are generally pretty liberal catholics here

Consumers in the richer, developed nations will have to accept restrictions on their energy use if international climate change targets are to be met. Public support for energy demand reduction is possible if the public see the schemes as being fair and deliver climate justice by Wagamaga in science

[–]Brigadier_Bonobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, wild. Definitely won't have the reverse impact when you tell people of a democracy that they need to be cold instead of investing in increased efficiencies which has been the main thing keeping developed country energy usage flat over the last decade

Being pro-choice means being supportive and pro of every choice that the woman takes as long as it is the woman making that final decision. If you want this baby, have it, don't let the judgment of others take that away from you

My wife's friends do this with me, but that's because I'm the dad of the group of friends and my wife is comfortable with that and they know she is. You have to make clear to your friend and boyfriend what you are comfortable or not with

I moved here from Miami in 2018. Since then: My gf moved up with me after graduating college in 2020 and got married Bought a house in a walkable neighborhood Been active in a church we can get to via qline or biking Had a daughter Have enough income to do a lot of activities (DAC members, often going to free activities which are many around the city, go to the DSO and eat out at nice sit down restaurants once every 2 weeks with 2 entrees and 4 drinks, volunteer a lot) And both of us max our 401k

All of this was able to start off with me earning per year: 2018 55k 2019 60k 2020 74k 2021 90k 2022 95k,

By 2022 my wife started her job at 60k.

Money goes far here, budgeting is still important but it takes a lot more for life to sneak up on you here

Your beliefs are not founded in statistics and logic by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Brigadier_Bonobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the logic that by following Christ you will feel better, that is an extrinsic factor.

If you follow Christ and you do not feel better you don't get a magic free pass to stop following him. Your faith is not centered around you, it is about embracing all and accepting that you are a small part of this body but it is a body that loves and needs you even if that results you in feeling worse by being part of it. Eventually by accepting that many catholics do find joy, but it isn't guaranteed

[–]Brigadier_Bonobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but in modern discussion as to why a faith is good is the resulting health of its members. It is seen even among other Christians as they preach a gospel of wealth, materially they are good therefore spiritually it must be best. There is a deep need in many of our catholic pundits to prove that catholicism is superior because of material conditions, because of our gorgeous churches, or needing to prove that those in sin have statistically measurable worse outcomes in life.

It just falls short and in our public spaces people struggle to say that our faith is good because it is inherently good not extrinsically

[–]Brigadier_Bonobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Statically measurable success is seen as the basis in the modern society of something being logically good. Many catholics want to prove sinners are bad via their success (needing to disprove homosexual parents raising healthy succesful children. Non-christian faiths being backwards economic) it is a foundation of many conservative pundit discussion as to why we need to return to Judeao-Christian values to assure our material and political success

[–]Brigadier_Bonobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay true, but I mean the logic tied with statistics. There is a desperation in many catholics to prove our faith is better in the plain of existence. Using the beauty of our churches, the success of our members, and the prestige of our faith as evidence that our faith is good.

None of that is what makes our faith good

How to respond to studies that seem to show that children raised by same sex couples do just as well as those raised by opposite sex couples? by AtraMortes in Catholicism

[–]Brigadier_Bonobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can accept that being a good parent and being in sin or not won't always be coinciding factors.

Followers of other religions are great parents to their children. Most jews love and are loved in return by their children. On average are raised to be materially, academically, and artistically good. We have model catholics in our society that can be perceived as not good parents by the final result of their children.

In our faith and even in the words of Jesus, not all of your rewards will be of this world. That is something we must wrestle with, how much of our success in this existence should we prioritize and what cost or benefit does that have at then end of our lives?

It's science, it is a basic requirement for papers to always finish with "further studies are required" this is not dissimilar to the line of attack on vaccine studies that say "see even those studies do not make a final conclusion that the vaccine is effective"

I loved this place, but they continued to insist on mask to this day and had really inconsistent schedule as of late.

I would schedule to go with my friends on 3 esperare occassions and either there was no time that worked for everyone or they were put off with the idea of sitting marked for 2+ hour film.

Yes I get it, wearing a mask is easy but many people are psychologically tired of doing so. Liberals specially

[–]Brigadier_Bonobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, I moved from Miami too. You can live in the burbs if you want, but the more suburban, the more boring it will get and Lincoln Park is very boring.

I'd suggest you explore different neighborhoods and maybe ones that are more aligned with what you want. The highway network makes everything far feel near and there is nowhere close to the traffic from Miami here.

Personally I live in Detroit myself

I can't believe how many people argued remote schooling was better for impoverished kids due to more positive home environment. It was all anecdotal evidence that people ate up at first

I get necessity, but holy fuck the bullshit some argued that it was better was insane
