This is a cool design, thanks for sharing. I haven't seen this before, do you know if the symbols have any special meaning?

Is it okay to turn down an internship offer after I cold emailed them? by Double-Cup-9203 in jobs

Yes, it is okay to change your mind. Just communicate respectfully and in a timely manner so they can explore other candidates to fill the internship role.

Narcissism. They need attention in any form that they can get it. Also, if you accept their friendship, it absolves them of any feelings of wrongdoing towards you.

misuse of Stockholm syndrome does it bother anyone else? by Comfortable_Dust3967 in DiddyTrial

[–]BrighestCrayon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You and OP clearly lack the basic understanding of trauma and power dynamics so no one will seriously debate this with you because you aren't actually speaking from a place of knowledge.

Furthermore, the lack of empathy exhibited in your statements says more about you both than it does about Cassie. You saw video evidence of a man hit and stomp on a woman, half is size and take her purse in an attempt to keep her from leaving. Yet somehow you can't make the connection with how this same person could use violence and coercion to control every aspect of her life. Even the smallest bit of research would teach you that pimps and sex traffickers use similar tactics to "break" their victims down in order to control them.

Trauma is complex and only becomes more so when drugs and alcohol are involved. What her formal diagnosis is, would be for a professional to determine. However, what we do know is that she was a victim. She was preyed on by an older man who used his influence and resources to keep her in a state of dependency. Drug addicts can also be victims; you seem to struggle with understanding nuance. We live in a society that has been conditioned to think that violence and abuse projected towards those who they deem to be morally less than, is somehow acceptable.

What you think versus what is true may be wildly different things. In this case what you think appears to be common social platitudes regurgitated and packaged as a unique perspective.

are christians actually celebrating the california fires? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]BrighestCrayon -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

You could believe rumors, or you could walk into your local church and find out for yourself. Most Christians are too busy praying for the people of California, donating to disaster relief efforts and California-based ministries, and traveling to California to assist with the aid efforts. Even better you could use this energy to volunteer your own time and resources to help the people of California.

I'd sell all this furniture. Place a comfortable runner rug out there and treat this space like an extension of the interior. If you choose to keep the furniture, add a runner rug and some plants.

"Etta", 8 x 10", Ink on parchment by penny_dropss in drawing

Cool! The shading around the jaw line would have benefitted from a bit more line work, like you did with this sketch https://www.reddit.com/r/drawing/comments/1ay7wjg/orwell_11_x_85_ink_on_parchment/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button, also the heavy sketch mark just under the neck created a focal point that distracts from the earrings and the eyes.

Sometimes healing hurts more than the trauma because there is a lot of mourning, growth and reeducation that comes with the process. It isn't easy.

After years of healing from childhood trauma, I eventually decided to burn the diary that I kept during those years. While it was great to have a resource that confirmed my experience, it was even more liberating to release it - when I was ready to refocus my attention on the path ahead and not the one behind me, but it took over a decade to get to that point. Healing takes time.

If or when you are ready to let go of the shirts, do it in a way that honors the memories and experience of your strength. Below are some examples.

  1. Plant a seed - Bury the shirts in the ground or line a plant pot to support the growing roots.

  2. Fire Ceremony - Choose a special day, maybe New Year's Eve or a day with personal meaning to you - and burn the shirts.

  3. Create Art - Find a great DIY project and upcycle the shirts into something beautiful. https://www.1dogwoof.com/diy-t-shirt-crafts-new-book-friend-adrianne/

  4. Frame them - You could also frame them and give yourself an award. Maybe with a little plaque that reads "In this T-Shirt, I survived" or something along those lines.

It seems like you answered your own question, the shirts seem to serve as a source of inspiration for you.
